Kountzer Posted March 16, 2014 Posted March 16, 2014 Angus T Jones, the actor who played Jake on the TV show 2 1/2 men came and spoke at my church yesterday. He didn't look too good. He had long disheveled hair, a wild, long scruffy beard. I hate to be critical. I got stuff to work on myself. But wow, it's like he's playing right into the critics hand. Secular media have tried to say that he has been bamboozled by a cult, namely this church. I know for a fact that is not the case. This church is the best place for him to be. But as long as he chooses to carry himself like that it will be hard to convince outsiders otherwise. Child star actors go through a lot of psychological changes when they leave hollywood. One thing I've concluded over the last couple of years, especially after 9/11, everyone has their own story and it is incumbent on me to exercise patience for any or all without judging beyond the recognition of whether it is something suitable for me to emulate. My speculation is that he wants to look as far from Jake Harper as possible...But, I could be wrong. I wouldn't worry so much about what the world thinks. The world will find other faults with the SDA church, or any church for that matter, whether or not Angus T Jones is even a member, and whether he looks like a caveman or shaves and puts on a suit and tie. What matters is his relationship with God. Quote

It also said he regrets trashing the show publicly, since it was the "baby" of his employers, but he didn't like having to act out such distasteful story lines. He said he negotiated himself a termination of his contract, last November. It also showed a photo of him, wearing long hair, a partial beard, and horn-rim glasses. I don't know how to cut and paste. But the report was online at theweek.com, and the article said he felt like he was being a "paid hypocrite" on the show. He seems like a sensitive, good kid. I pray he'll be able to keep his feet on the ground spiritually. BTW, his hairstyle doesn't bother me at all. I raised two boys myself. They go through stages like that. The Pastor extended honorary membership, but Angus lives and goes to school up in Colorado. I'm sure he will visit again, at least I hope so. From the article, it mentioned that he wanted to be on Bible-based movies, maybe he's looking to play a patriarch or something? Maybe he doesn't want to look like Jake Harper anymore. Maybe that's getting in style with the guys, etc...It's not that the reason matters so much, but just if you all really want to know why. Most people would not; it would be taken as offensive. Men grow beards and other facial hairs. Women cut, curl, color, etc their hair ... Most often it is a personal preference. Just my opinion .... Many people, especially fans of the show, seeing him with the long hair, beard, and glasses most likely wouldn't recognize him. And with time, as he gets older he will not be as easily recognized as the child actor from that show he justifiably wishes to distance himself from. And incidentally, when I was about the same age he is now, I also had long hair and a long scruffy beard like that. Wouldn't be a good look for me now, but accepted and the thing to do at the time. I'm not trying to say that my story was even remotely similar- his is so far beyond mine, but in my early 20s I was making a lot of money (not by comparison). I had everything I thought I wanted, but it was so empty. When God allowed light into my path, I knew I had to make a choice- continue to make way more money than I needed and have a life of ease, or follow God and walk away from it all. I would be a total liar to say that after making the choice to follow God, I didn't regret it at times. I did. A lot. I can't even imagine how much harder it must be for him. Quote
