Sad event in Johnson City NY

I just wanted to share some sadness for this week in a city near where I live, Johnson City NY, which is by Binghamton NY.

There was a police officer shooting and I have not read all the details. The police officer, David Smith, born 1970, was a friend of my sister's and some who I work with knew him and they all said that he was a very kind and caring man. Married, a child, A pillar in the community.

The other man was an MRI technician at the local medical hospital. He was also married with children. I had an MRI done at that hospital. I don't know if he was the one who did my MRI or not.

What happened is a mystery. The MRI Tech left to work one day this week. He was fine when he woke up in the morning and had breakfast with his wife and children. As the children left for school he left for work just like any other day. No problems. However as he got to work his co=workers noticed that he was acting ill and very odd and he just kept getting worst and they finally called 911 to get him to the hospital. Officer David Smith responded to the call. Anyway, the MRI tech then attacked officer Smith from behind and in the struggle officer Smith's gun got loose and both men ended up shot and killed. They are trying to find out what caused the MRI tech to suddenly go bazaar and for this double tragedy. It almost seems like it's one thing if it was a complication with some skumbag, or even someone messed up on drugs. But this double tragedy to happen to two good men, married, children is very baffling to us and very hard to comprehend. Today Officer Smith's funeral was on the TV stations.
