I don't think I have ever seen them here. When I lived in Alberta I saw some pretty cool ones, and as a kid we lived for a few years further North, and we saw them a lot there.

You may want to do some research on the topic of "electric universe" to see how the Northern Lights, cosmic nebulas, the Sun, destruction of ancient civilizations, the war between Venus and Mars, enigmatic rock art, etc, are all related.

Normally yes, though the coolest, most bizarre Northern Lights I have seen were in Kelowna of all places. I would not have believed it had I not seen it myself.

Good Luck seeing anything in Iceland. When I was there it was so stormy you couldn't see anywhere.

The Northern Lights phenomenon is pretty neat. I've seen it in central Oregon a number of times... someone got a cool shot of it there last October..
