LifeHiscost Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 ________________up from a warm bed this morning, to open a fridge full of plenty of nourishing food. If you did and you own a car you are among the fortunate 5%-1% of the worlds population. Count your blessings. http://www.actionagainsthunger.org/impact/nutrition?gclid=CKPa_7-LhL4CFQaBfgodLXMAwA http://news.yahoo.com/desperate-rohingya-kids-flee-alone-boat-155932904.html Global hunger now afflicts nearly a billion people worldwide. Severe acute malnutrition, however, is the more immediate killer: it threatens the lives of 34 million children. Every year at least 1 million of them die from malnutrition-related causes. Worldwide, the number of hungry people has dropped significantly over the past two decades, but 842 million people continue to struggle with hunger every day. 1.2 billion people still live in extreme poverty — on less than $1.25 per day. Each year, 2.6 million children die as a result of hunger-related causes. But progress has been made. There has been a reduction of more than 34 percent in global hunger since 1990. The target of halving the percentage of people suffering from hunger by 2015 is possible. However, there are still an estimated 868 million people who are undernourished and more than 100 million children under age five who are undernourished and underweight. The underlined in the article could be eliminated overnight by a cessation of hostile activity and the savings shifted to more humanitarian efforts. And some people wonder why the coming of Christ is the only viable option as opposed to man's efforts to solve all his problems through intimidation of others than themselves. God cares! Jesus saves!
