Moderators Jeannieb43 Posted May 1, 2014 Moderators Posted May 1, 2014 When I was a child, we used to celebrate May Day, the first day of May, by making "May baskets" and distributing them onto the doorknobs of the neighbors' front doors. We tried to do it without being noticed. The "baskets" were usually made of rolled-up construction paper in various colors, with a strip of the same paper pasted onto the top for a handle, and then filled with a small bouquet of wildflowers we had just picked. We loved seeing the neighbors' reactions when they found the May baskets. I don't recall whether or not we put our names inside the baskets. It was just fun doing something nice for a neighbor, and celebrating the first day of May that way. Quote Jeannie

...Change is inevitable; growth is optional....

Administrators Naomi Posted May 1, 2014 Administrators Posted May 1, 2014 Jeannie, that was the way we celebrated May Day in my school/town. It was so much fun ... several of the ladies would donate early spring flowers and we would make the baskets and attempt to be discrete in our delivery. Such fond memories!
