I had not heard of it before. So, I cannot speak from personal knowledge about it.

But, the Internet does have some interesting comments. One set of comments suggests that every believer in the Bible picks and choses what is inspired.

Anyway. There are more books on the market that claim to be some specific type of Bible than I am aware of. I have in my library a Readers' Digest Bible. l Actually, it is a better one that one might think.

Some of these do have value. Some are of value only in very limited circumstances. Others? ? ?

Thought maybe the web site was a joke...at first. Can not find a source or who runs the site...didn't want to spend that much time on it. A lot of the stuff posted is rather contradictory of its own premises.

I like the Ebonics, it gets the idea across and could well be useful. I did not like the ghetto as it was too much swearing.

As I said, some of them have some value, some of which are of limited value.

It is well in thinking about a Biblical version to consider its purpose.

One purpose has been to put the message of the Bible into the common language of a group of people. That has been the purpose of some respected Biblical translators whose Bibles are several hundred years old, as well as some respected modern ones.

That also has been the purpose of the two that I cited. There are others which are on the level of the Ghetto Bible. It is not alone.

As to their effectiveness: Probably they are not effective for you and I, at least some are probably not effective.

I believe that part of the "Investigative Judgment" is how since the mid 1800s there has been an explosion in Biblical knowledge as well as the Bibles that go towards people with specific mindsets (if people can't learn the way we teach, teach the way they learn), and where we have Bible's recorded and on DVD where we can listen to and watch during our busy lives.

However, sadly, most of us end up with and preach from the cherry picking Bible.

Actually as you go deeper into this subject, it becomes more complex:

Pidgin English has probably 600,000 speakers in Hawaii and some 100 million in Africa. Therefore you can get a Bible written in Hawaii Pidgin English. The following is from the 1st chapter of John and the Hawaii version:

Dat Guy an God, dey stay togedda, an da Guy stay God fo real kine. 2 Dass da Guy, da time everyting had start, him an God stay togedda. 3 God wen make everyting, but da way he do um, he tell dis Guy fo do um. No mo notting dis Guy neva make. 4 He da Guy, if you like come alive fo real kine, you come by him, cuz dat kine life come from him. Wen peopo come alive lidat, jalike dey stay inside one place dat get plenny light. Den dey can see an undastan. 5 No matta stay dark, da dark no can pio da light. Everytime get light.

If you were to read the same passage in the version written for Africa you would see it reads quite differently.

In any case, for native speakers of Pidgin English, who do not have facility in Standard English (whatever that is), they need a translation into their Pidgin English. For them, it has value and can be used by God.
