So many different viewpoints and opinions crash against each other in a discussion forum like this that it's almost a miracle when two people actually agree.

As I see it, the main responsibility of the people of Israel in the time of Moses was to obey YHVH's instructions and laws governing their behavior. This was a business arrangement, evidenced by a contract, or covenant, which the people at one time consented to. In exchange for their obedience, they would be given a land of milk and honey to settle in.

Now Jesus, far from being a religionist like most of us are, had a similar message, obedience to YHVH, our Creator and Owner. Although he attended synagogue on occasion, it was to teach, not to sit and listen to misinformation. Anyway, he spoke of a New Contract, or New Covenant, with the laws of YHVH programmed into humans so that it would not be possible to disobey him. That process doesn't take place in this life, but in the next. In exchange for our love and obedience of YHVH, those he chooses will be members of his Kingdom.

We're all flawed and weak, but it is most important to prepare ourselves for the time of testing mentioned in Rev. We can facilitate this by struggling to conquer our selfish, disobedient natures and exchange that for goodness, generosity, and obedience to YHVH's commands. The more we suppress our selfishness, the more power we have to become overcomers. This is our contract, or covenant, which we should consent to.

This may or may not be new truth to some, but it is, I believe, important to our chances of being invited to join the Kingdom of YHVH. Being willing as servants of YHVH to die at the hand of our persecutors because we no longer have a sense of self is one of the requirements of our contract with YHVH.

After re-reading your post Samie, I don't see where I disagree with you either. All I can say is I must have mis-read your post when I first responded. As it turns out, I pretty much agree with what you said.

Scriptures say that the New Covenant was ratified on the cross (Heb 9:15, 16). It is in operation now and had been in operation since the death in Eden of that animal the skin of which God fashioned into the covering of the first couple (Gen 3:21). That animal's death, as with subsequent animal sacrifices before the cross, pointed forward to the death on the cross of the Lamb of God which taketh away the sin of the world (John 1:29). No wonder our Savior is called the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world (Rev 13:8).

In the New Covenant, the possibility of disobeying God remains. People remain free moral agents who can choose to do right or wrong. This is why people are enjoined to overcome evil with good (Rom 12:21), for only overcomers will not be blotted out from the book of life (Rev 3:5). This is why our Lord said that when He returns He will reward EVERY MAN according to what each has done (Matt 16:27; Rev 22:12). To those whose names remain in the book of life, eternal life; to all others, the wrath of God, which is the 7 last plagues (Rev 15:1), and finally thrown into the lake of fire (Rom 2:5-11; Rev 21:27; Rev 20:15).

Yes, Pastor. I read your response to joeb. And as Joemo mentioned, it was an anointed post. I am real blessed for having a minister of your credentials on the same side of the fence in the issue of proclaiming the Pure Gospel. The issue of the Pure Gospel is the first thread I started when I joined this forum in Dec 2011.
