Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted June 8, 2014 Members Posted June 8, 2014 try making your own laundry detergent.. I mixed some up last Friday, and tried it out today... it works GREAT!!! Here's the recipe: 1 box Super Washing Soda 3 lb 7 oz 1 box Borax 4 lbs 12 oz size 1 box regular Baking Soda 4 lbs 3 bars Fels-Naptha 5.5 oz (or Ivory soap) 1 container Oxy-Clean 1.3 lbs optional scent (Purex Crystals 28 oz or Downy Unstoppable) Finely grate the Fels-Naptha (I used a paring knife and thickly shaved the soap, then ran it in the food processor 'til it was finely ground). Combine all the ingredients in a plastic tub, mixing with your hands until all ingredients are evenly distributed. Then just store it in a covered container. Use 1-2 Tablespoons per laundry load. Costs about 4¢ per load, compared to 15-20¢ per load for store-bought detergent... and it's environmentally friendly. Here's what my batch looks like: Quote Pam Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup. If we all sang the same note in the choir, there'd never be any harmony. Funny, isn't it, how we accept Grace for ourselves and demand justice for others?
