carole1012 Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 Good Morning Everyone, I want to share an incredible new song with you. I have goosebumps listening to it. http://youtu.be/rWGuQiIym4U Danny wrote a song about America that is absolutely amazing! Yvonne Lewis is the soloist and she is accompanied by some of the most recognized faces in the music business. Legendary composer Lari Goss arranged this new song America We Are One and did and amazing job! I would love to ask that you share this on your FB sites, (just go to my FB site, and click share), and with your friends. Also, would you call your local radio stations and ask for them to play this song! Over 4000 radio stations already have this CD. Here is Danny’s message: I'm asking all my Face Book Friends to share this with your Face Book friends. I wrote this song last 4th of July. It is called America We Are One. Our Nation is divided and if you believe it is time for us to come together from the left and the right to do what's best for America, please share this video. The bible says a house divided against itself cannot stand. This is a call for the people of the USA and those who we have elected, to go back to our roots, "One Nation, under God..." Yvonne Lewis is the soloist. Originally from New York she has had a very successful career in the secular music business. She was one of New York's top Jingle singers for many years. She sang commercials for Diet Coke, Frito Lay, Folgers Coffee, Burger King, Ruffles Potato chips, Pizza Hut and the list goes on and on. She also sang a duet with Kermit the Frog that you probably have heard...It's Not Easy Being Green”! She has sung with Whitney Houston, Luther Vandross, Roberta Flack and many others. Yvonne Lewis is now General Manager of 3ABN's new Television Network named "Dare To Dream". It is a station targeting the needs of people in the Inner Cities of the US and around the world. Our choir for this project is made up of some of the most familiar singers in the business... Terry Blackwood, Gene McDonald, Judy Rodman, Reggie and Ladye Love Smith, Bonnie Keen and a number of others. Our legendary arranger and composer is Mr. Lari Goss! I want to thank Lari, all the singers, the entire Orchestra and band members for making this song possible... And of course ALL thanks and credit goes to God for any good that comes from this project! I know that you will be blessed. Carole Quote

If we all sang the same note in the choir, there'd never be any harmony. Funny, isn't it, how we accept Grace for ourselves and demand justice for others?
Moderators lazarus Posted June 20, 2014 Moderators Posted June 20, 2014 I'm speechless. Quote Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocrities. M. T. Cross Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 So for a country that was founded for religious liberty and claims to hold it as one of its highest ideals, how does the whole One Nation Under God thing really work? Quote
Members phkrause Posted June 21, 2014 Members Posted June 21, 2014 Very interesting Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
fccool Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 I'm going to apologize in advance for the following comments, but it just really bothers me, so I have to put a little "vent" in AdVENTist here. I am a music producer, and I really don't want to come across very harsh... because it's a church project, and it's essentially a form of glorified special music. But really? That's the effort that was put into writing the lyrics for something as broad as love for one's country? How are the breadth of the composers and performers' credentials ever justify to making this into "amazing song"? You don't see this as an extreme form of intellectual laziness? "America the beautiful" is an amazing song, because ... well: O beautiful for spacious skies, For amber waves of grain, For purple mountain majesties Above the fruited plain! America! America! God shed his grace on thee And crown thy good with brotherhood From sea to shining sea! O beautiful for pilgrim feet Whose stern impassioned stress A thoroughfare of freedom beat Across the wilderness! America! America! God mend thine every flaw, Confirm thy soul in self-control, Thy liberty in law! O beautiful for heroes proved In liberating strife. Who more than self their country loved And mercy more than life! America! America! May God thy gold refine Till all success be nobleness And every gain divine! O beautiful for patriot dream That sees beyond the years Thine alabaster cities gleam Undimmed by human tears! America! America! God shed his grace on thee And crown thy good with brotherhood From sea to shining sea! There's incredible amount of meaning put into the song, via great amount of lyrical effort. Here's Danny's song: America, we are one, United under God and Flag, we are one We stand for right, and we will fight To protect our land, America I mean, seriously? I can do something he didn't bother to do... to write a second verse in the same breath, in the next 30 seconds America, we are free, Because of those who fought for our liberty And we won't rest, to do the best To protect our land, America 30 seconds! Maybe I have my "period", and perhaps I expect much better from Mr. Shelton, but seriously? There seem to be more effort put into listing the credentials of the performers, and promoting this masterpiece, than was put into actually writing this song. Again, I apologize for this criticism, and if you find it harsh... I'm sorry, but I feel that lack of internal criticism and internal bias is the very reason why these types of things get a free pass. Quote
Administrators Tom Wetmore Posted June 21, 2014 Administrators Posted June 21, 2014 I must agree with you, fccool... Quote "Absurdity reigns and confusion makes it look good." "Sinless perfection is such a shallow goal." "I love God only as much as the person I love the least." *Forgiveness is always good news. And that is the gospel truth. (And finally, the ideas expressed above are solely my person views and not that of any organization with which I am associated.)
Moderators Gregory Matthews Posted June 21, 2014 Moderators Posted June 21, 2014 Being realistic, the effort was put into the production of the video, which was simply pasting together purchased snippets. Nothing seems to be original in the video. AS to the song, I kept asking where is the 2nd, 3rd and 4th verses. Oh, well, the that actual music CD had more meaning in it than some of the pop trivia that is produced today. Let us give them credit for that. Quote Gregory
hch Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 When America was in her infancy: "one nation under God," this may have been AN INCREDIBLE PATRIOTIC SONG. But to produce and to promote this "INCREDIBLE NEW PATRIOTIC SONG BY DANNY SHELTON" that extols the dead virtues of a country that God is about to remove from the world scene is an affront to the Three Angels' Messages -- a dilution of the undiluted Present Truth. Will this "INCREDIBLE NEW PATRIOTIC SONG BY DANNY SHELTON" help the Remnant Church evangelize the world (much of which holds America in contempt for its high handed approach to international affairs) or will it link Adventism to America in such a way to hinder the work of the 3 Angels'? I think the demographic that likes Dick Chaney would like it. Fcool, good points. Quote Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocrities. Administrators Tom Wetmore Posted June 21, 2014 Administrators Posted June 21, 2014 As packaged it sort of struck me as patriotic pandering. Show the flag and everyone salutes. Hum a few notes of the national anthem and everyone feels that patriotic pride. Whistle America the Beautiful and everyone whistles along. Show beautiful pictures of this land and everyone is in awe. It doesn't take much. It really shouldn't. But to promote it as something new and incredible as if it was a fantastic creative musical effort - that is something else entirely! Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted June 21, 2014 Members Posted June 21, 2014 responding to no one in particular... it's fascinating to me that the criticisms of the video rather echo my sentiments about most recent (past 50 years) religious hymns that are currently sung in SDA churches... for example: "Majesty" and "We Have This Hope" (which, I believe, was the theme song at the last GC session). Many, if not most, songs written to evoke patriotism or strong feelings of devotion (as in hymns) use repeating words and phrases, and many do not have several or more verses. At the risk of being laughed off the forum, I'll even put in a remark that songs typically heard at campfires are predominantly sung to bring people together. Those songs don't have many verses. But if you attended any sort of summer camp when you were a kid, the songs that you remember, probably fondly, are those songs and spirituals. Or maybe you hated camp, hated the songs, hated the people. I don't know. And I never liked Dick Cheney, the doofus. carole1012 Posted June 21, 2014 Author Posted June 21, 2014 Everyone has a right to like, or not to like the song. I truly thought it was beautiful, or I would not have posted it. We all like different things, and have different songs that touch us. I am happy that it touched the heart of some. I am grateful that we live in a country where we are all allowed to have differing views. Happy Sabbath. Quote
Moderators Gregory Matthews Posted June 21, 2014 Moderators Posted June 21, 2014 Carole: I did not directly state whether I liked the song. I did say that it was more meaningful than some of the pop trivia that is sung today. I will suggest that was a positive statement about the song. Quote Gregory
carole1012 Posted June 21, 2014 Author Posted June 21, 2014 Gregory, I understand that. I was making a general statement about us all being able to like different things. Nothing more. Quote
carole1012 Posted June 21, 2014 Author Posted June 21, 2014 And, it was a comment about all the previous comments. Completely written in love. I was not speaking to a specific person at all. Quote
