Moderators Gregory Matthews Posted June 27, 2014 Moderators Posted June 27, 2014 Sodexo is a multinational French company that provides services to colleges and universities, which has 133,000 employees in the United States. One of the services that it provides is cafeteria workers, who often only work during the typical school year. By averaging the hours that those 5,000 employees worked over a 12-month year, Sodexo determined that it was not required to provide them with health coverage and it removed them from its health coverage plan. This action by Sodexo resulted in a massive labor union campaign to organize Sodexo workers. AS a result, the company has changed its policy and will allow the 5,000 cafeteria workers to be covered under its health plan. Quote Gregory
