Sojourner Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 Great short video simply on the importance of Common Sense by Dr Benjamin Carson - http://youtu.be/D-9b6AOr_bQ Quote
Moderators Gerr Posted June 30, 2014 Moderators Posted June 30, 2014 I just finished reading his book "America the Beautiful". Great book. Full of common sense stuff. I would endorse him for president. He is more qualified, imo, than any of the names being bandied about. But if he ran for president, I doubt he could get through the scrutiny by the press of his church's teachings vis-a-vis the RCC & on homosexuality. Quote
Moderators Jeannieb43 Posted June 30, 2014 Moderators Posted June 30, 2014 I always liked Dr. Ben Carson. He was the commencement speaker for my son's graduation from medical school at Loma Linda University, years ago. But recently he has become so radical in his rightwing rhetoric that he scares me. He even demonizes President Obama. Nobody should speak ill of our duly elected President of the United States. Speaking ill of the President shows me Dr. Carson has been converted into the radical right. He ought to know better. Being a Christian he should never personally attack our President like that. He could speak against the policies, but never against the person. He's been captivated by the style of some of the TV goons out there. I wonder if he is not motivated by the belief that this is what he will need to do to get elected. If that is true (?) how is he different from everyone else? Quote Gregory
bonnie Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 I wonder if he is not motivated by the belief that this is what he will need to do to get elected. If that is true (?) how is he different from everyone else? I wonder if Dr Carson is motivated by his beliefs? Funny how the admonition to not judge the motives or heart of another can so easily get turned on it's head by some. What has he said that is so radical and unfounded? Quote Everything you do is based on the choices you make. It's not your parents, your past relationships, your job, the economy, the weather, an argument, or your age that is to blame. You and only you are responsible for every decision and choice you make, period ... ... Wish more people would realize this. Quotes by Susan Gottesman
Sojourner Posted July 1, 2014 Author Posted July 1, 2014 "When you become an ideologue, you have to strain everything through your ideology whether it makes sense or not" This is very true, sometimes people have so much hatred of something that common sense and reasoning just go straight out the window, I have seen that happen in the lives of friends of mine and its true, it leads to the break up of marriage and hatred of all kinds of people, simply because people are unable to question their own ideology.
