Rites of Passage

In many cultures young men have a right of passage (probably the same for young women too). This was the defining point when a boy became a man. Whether helped across directly by their father or by influential role models of men within their community, there came an expectancy of what it meant to be a man.

Such rites are still present in Jewish, Native American, West African and some Southern American cultures. I wonder if there is such scope for such a programme within the Christian framework?
