Guest Posted November 10, 2005 Posted November 10, 2005 The Science Of Salvation I submit this humbly, for the purpose of further research, not wanting anyone to believe that I am slipping into some kind of weird apostasy or something. I have always seen the Bible as being able to explain science, rather than science, being able to explain the Scriptures. "One of the great evils which has attended the quest of knowledge, the investigations of science, is that those who engage in these researches too often lose sight of the divine character of pure and unadulterated religion. The worldly-wise have attempted to explain upon scientific principles the influence of the Spirit of God upon the heart. The least advance in this direction will lead the soul into the mazes of skepticism. The religion of the Bible is simply the mystery of godliness; no human mind can fully understand it, and it is utterly incomprehensible to the unregenerate heart." 4T.585.002 "Human knowledge of both material and spiritual things is partial and imperfect; therefore many are unable to harmonize their views of science with Scripture statements. Many accept mere theories and speculations as scientific facts, and they think that God's word is to be tested by the teachings of "science falsely so called." 1 Timothy 6:20. The Creator and His works are beyond their comprehension; and because they cannot explain these by natural laws, Bible history is regarded as unreliable. Those who doubt the reliability of the records of the Old and New Testaments too often go a step further and doubt the existence of God and attribute infinite power to nature. Having let go their anchor, they are left to beat about upon the rocks of infidelity." GC.522.003 Physics 101 In basic physics, "spacetime" can be thought of as a "continuum" of sorts, which combines both space and time into a single construct. This "continuum" has three dimensions of space, and one dimension of time. Shortly after Einstein developed the Theory Of Special Relativity; one, Herman Minkowski devised the principle of treating space and time on the equivalent of these two aspects being treated as a unified whole. Further; this unification is shown by the common practice of expressing time in the same units as space simply by multiplying time measurements, by the speed of light. Apparently, a spacetime is independent of any observer. We can only measure various physical phenomena which occur at certain moments in time, in a given region of space; each observer choosing a convenient coordinate system. These events are defined by four real numbers in a given coordinate system In the midst of all this study; I have wondered about "consciousness" or "thought." Would there be any spacetime concepts of consciousness? Is there anything, or a chance that there would be anything; anywhere; that is not consisting of time or space? Some other dimension that we are largely unaware of right now? Physicists currently see the universe as a four dimensional entity - as Einstein's theory generally goes. There are, they say, 3 space dimensions; and a fourth dimension of time. Everything that exists is supposed to be involved in or explained by this Theory Of Relativity, and the Special Theory Of Relativity. The time coordinate is measured by lightspeed. (reportedly, because it is the fastest known speed ?). Currently, modern physics has started to challenge Einstein's theories by proposing that there is something even faster than light. They are saying that Gravity is faster, because it is immediate. Gravity happens immediately. Unlike Light, which takes some time to travel. If true; this could change a lot of thinking; but I have personally been taking all this a little further yet. I do not understand most of the math and stuff used by physics professors; So far; I am only able to grasp mostly the more empirical verbal concepts of spacetime such as detailed in my first paragraph above. In the newer "theory of everything" being developed; (sometimes coined as "Standard Theory); there is this challenge to the Theory Of Relativity, which basically claims that gravity is faster than lightspeed. And from this is spawned a whole new set of ideas. I am not yet clear on how this measures up with proponents of Standard Theory, (the one refuting Einstein's), but I see even Gravity, as still somehow falling into one or more of the four dimensions mentioned above; and therefore, knowing about Gravity within spacetime is very important, simply for understanding better what we already know about the universe. So far; I have given a brief summary of my very limited understanding of physics, to lay the groundwork for the next phase of this study. I will continue later. Quote
Guest Posted November 10, 2005 Posted November 10, 2005 Where My Personal Theory comes in is just here. I have been thinking about The Holy Spirit, and our consciousness. I have especially wondered about "consciousness" or "thought." Would there be any spacetime concepts of consciousness? Is that possible? Is there anything, or a chance that there would be anything; anywhere; that is not time or space? You see; "thought" seems to me to be even more immediate, but something like gravity. But even gravity has a limit…It only reaches so far. Thought, has no limits. It reaches everywhere; it never stops. I wonder; is there a way to measure the speed of thought? Or will there be? But further to this; how can thought possibly be measured within the constructs of the above 4 dimensions? Think of it. Thought, in and of itself, with just a human being; does of course have an end, at death. But what about God's thought? What about the marvellous unity of divinity with humanity; through the cross of Jesus Christ our Lord; and through the deep heart-felt convictions of His Holy Spirit? I haven't got time right now to get into everything that is in my head about all this; but it has some really interesting implications about the following: 1) How The Holy Spirit speaks to us 2) How or how fast God created the world 3) The term "from everlasting" in the Bible when it talks about God. 4) How 1000 years is "like a day," with God I don't know...it seems to me that the currently held four dimensions of spacetime are too limited; and that there must be other dimensions that only God is really privy to at this time. Also; when the Spirit Of Prophecy talks about "winging our tireless flight through realms of illimitable space;" (GC.677.003-)GC.678.003), the term "illimitable;" in the context of the David Battler Theory might become quite interesting. You see; even the Physicist who has a Phd in Physics; is bound by the limits of his mathematics; for that is essentially all that these people use to calculate measurements within the four dimensions; and I was going to say in the four "known" dimensions; but if the fourth dimension of time is just bound by mathematics; then we reduce everything to something men can figure; and yet no one is any closer to God than they ever were with all this knowledge. Hmmmm. I wonder if faith might be another dimension?? Faith is not just our thought/consciousness; but also God's. "He is faithful;" (Heb.10:23, 1 Jo.1:9). And; Faith is also our consciousness: "The just shall live by faith." (Gal.3:11, Rom.1:17, Heb.10:38). I think that "Faith;" is even faster than Gravity! Well, you have likely had enough of all this for one session - much of it came to me while I was welding if you can believe it!! My Personal Theory can be summed up by saying that the special unity of the divine and the human is yet another dimension, in addition to the spacetime dimensions – God's relation to us, to His universe, is the fifth dimension; if you will. I suppose there is lots I don't know though. But, one thing is for sure; there are some mysteries in our universe! I just wish I could think of a way to tell all these "educated" scientists and physics gurus how that God says: "My ways are not your ways; my thoughts are not your thoughts." (Isa.55:8-9). I believe this is "the mystery of Godliness;" "the science of salvation." Quote
Aliensanctuary Posted November 11, 2005 Posted November 11, 2005 When Jesus died, he gave up his spirit. We can assume, then, that the rest of us have a spirit, also. What are the characteristics of this spirit? One of the functions of our spirit is to record our memories, and after we die, return them to the Land of God for storage in the Temple Complex on Mt. Zion. At a certain point in time, our memories are scanned to determine whether or not to include the human producing them in the Restored Kingdom of New Earth. Our spirit also functions as an interface. When Jesus healed someone, especially from a distance, he made a request. The Spirit of God responded by accessing the person's spirit, then performing the necessary repairs. I picture this as a sort of Rapid Growth Technology, similar to what was used in the Creation of Life on Earth. When Jesus read minds, he also used the Spirit of God to access an individual's thoughts. It was the Holy Spirit who shared the information with him. Spirit is a mystery because we cannot see it or measure it with our current technology. Perhaps it is hard-wired into our DNA, recording data from our brains, or our entire body. It must be made of matter or energy that is invisible to us. The entertainment industry has made movies and written books about this idea: The Invisible Man. Scientists and thinkers have sometimes been ridiculed for their unusual experiments or ideas that have later been proven to be correct or brilliant. Our spirits can be accessed by both good and evil Messengers who can also influence to some extent our thoughts. That's why we should avoid deliberately doing or thinking evil, in case we choose to never return to God. Quote The Parable of the Lamb and the Pigpen https://www.createspace.com/3401451
Guest Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 I hope you will all forgive me if I post the following; but considering the subject matter, especially in my first post; I can't resist: FELINE PHYSICS 101 (or CAT LAWS) LAW OF CAT INERTIA: A cat at rest will tend to remain at rest, unless acted upon by some outside force, such as the opening of cat food, or a nearby scurrying mouse. LAW OF CAT MOTION: A cat will move in a straight line, unless there is a really good reason to change direction. LAW OF CAT THERMODYNAMICS: Heat flows from a warmer to a cooler body, except in the case of a cat, all heat flows to the cat. FIRST LAW OF CAT ENERGY CONSERVATION: Cats know that energy can neither be created nor destroyed and will, therefore, use as little energy as possible. LAW OF BAG/BOX OCCUPANCY: All bags and boxes in a given room must contain a cat within the earliest possible nanosecond. LAW OF FURNITURE REPLACEMENT: A cat's desire to scratch furniture is directly proportional to the cost of the furniture. LAW OF PILL REJECTION: Any pill given to a cat has potential energy to reach escape velocity. LAW OF CAT COMPOSITION: A cat is composed of Matter + Anti-matter + It Doesn't Matter. [:"red"]LAW OF SPACE-TIME CONTINUUM [/] : Given enough time, a cat will land in just about any space. LAW OF CAT OBEDIENCE: As yet undiscovered. I do intend to delve into some more serious Laws Of Physics in the spiritual realms in a future post. Hope you all have a happy Sabbath! (I have supplied a frying pan in the attachment above for anyone who needs it). Quote
