Big Brother May Be Listening.

Mrs. McGinley has alleged that she is a victim for domestic violence from her husband Michael.

While sitting in the office of the Denver District Attorney, Her cell phone rang. As she answered it, she placed it on speakerphone and the DA official turned on a recording machine. It is alleged that the person calling her was Michael McGinley who allegedly informed Mrs. McGinley that she would die. At that point she hung up the telephone.

Shortly it rang again. It is alleged that is was again Michael McGinley who allegedly stated that if she did not leave Colorado she would die.

Again, allegedly this conversation was recorded.

My comment is intended to illustrate that idea that one cannot assume that anything is private. It is not intended to suggest the guilt of anyone.

I totally believe that nothing is private, even if it's not technologically related.

Not suggesting the husband is or is not guilty, but in that situation, the wife could easily have had a friend call and pretend to be her husband. I'm sure that's one reason why the word "alleged" is so predominate in such reports.

Just saw on the news that there is a device called the "stinger" that law enforcement can use to mimic a cell phone tower to intercept cell phone calls. Problem is, that the device can be purchased by criminals, also.

Well, I do most of my banking via cell phone. Someone with a stinger could intercept my call and steal my pin and clean out my account. Maybe a landline would be safer, but we dropped ours several years ago in favor of the cell phones.
