Sojourner Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 Just wanted to share with you guys a small post that I put up on our churches Facebook Page about wars and the futility of war in general. https://www.facebook.com/paravistasda/ph...e=1&theater Quote
Moderators Kevin H Posted August 17, 2014 Moderators Posted August 17, 2014 I enjoyed reading it. Thank you for sharing! Quote
Members phkrause Posted August 17, 2014 Members Posted August 17, 2014 I agree war is futile, but it seems must just don't understand that. Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
Moderators Gregory Matthews Posted August 17, 2014 Moderators Posted August 17, 2014 War/Armed conflict, gave us freedom from England. Was that futile? War often accomplishes an objective. When such happens, is it futile? Yes, one might argue that an objective is not appropriate. But, that was not the statement. Quote Gregory
Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted August 17, 2014 Members Posted August 17, 2014 War/Armed conflict, gave us freedom from England. Was that futile? War often accomplishes an objective. When such happens, is it futile? Agreed. Not all wars have been futile. I shudder to think where the world would be now if Nazi Germany and Japan had not been forced to surrender. Even Israel was given the authority to fight for the land of Canaan. Quote Pam Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup. If we all sang the same note in the choir, there'd never be any harmony. Funny, isn't it, how we accept Grace for ourselves and demand justice for others?

I must agree with Gregory and Pam ... without wars from the past we would be living in a very different world. Quote If your dreams are not big enough to scare you, they are not big enough for God
Sojourner Posted August 18, 2014 Author Posted August 18, 2014 Rather than drag this topic off track I have created a new topic in the Theology Section, if all the SDA's that support the concepts of Killing and Just War - Ecclesiasties 3:3 would like to head on down there, that would be great!
