What was Paul's Thorn in the Flesh?

This is a question I have been over a few times, yet never received a satisfactory answer, so would like to turn it over to the group for discussion.

I have heard suggestions that this was some type of medical complaint, eyesight was given as one reason and there are several others that people mention.

The other suggestion may be the sheer number of Christians that Paul had ordered killed and the fact that he most likely then had to face their relatives on a regular basis?

So what do you think it was?

Well, Ellen White referred to her own "thorn in the flesh" also. Did anyone ever decide what that one was??

Do we even need to know?

We don't need to guess on this. Ellen White tells us in Letter 207, 1899. This is also shown in Vol. 6 of the Bible commentary, pg. 1107, where it's referring to II Cor. 12:7, where Paul says he was given a thorn in the flesh.

The quote says that "Paul had a bodily affliction; his eyesight was bad." Then it goes on to mention how he thought that with earnest prayer it might be removed but "the Lord had His own purpose,..."

Bad eye sight is what I've heard from a few different Theologians.
