Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted August 26, 2014 Members Posted August 26, 2014 I almost felt sorry for Jesse Jackson... almost... Funny, isn't it, how we accept Grace for ourselves and demand justice for others?
CoAspen Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 I thought they both made some very good points, two perspectives, but no real disagreement. Did not hear a 'vs' argument. Quote
Members phkrause Posted August 27, 2014 Members Posted August 27, 2014 I'm with you CoAspen. Its amazing how the article's written on this interview, that I've read, were blown so far out of proportion. I saw two black men coming at this situation from different angles. If people are just looking for a clear winner, than there very simple minded indeed. Both the Rev and Dr Carson made good points. From all the articles you'd have thought that Carson was all over Jackson, but in reality neither was critical of the other. Kountzer Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 I am thankful for the truth the Lord has given me. My understanding of prophecy, the judgement, the state of this world in the end times has helped me to cope with situations like Ferguson, Mo, etc. I haven't alway acted like I am thankful for the truth, but I am. Having said that I would say to anyone, especially fellow black men, don't resist authority, especially the police. Often times they think your life is cheap. It is not always the case, but quite often it is. I've had white police officers help me on several occasions. How you approach certain situations impact the outcome. Being combative, boisterous, aggressive with officers could get you shot and killed. Being aggressive with a person who has a gun is not smart. Moderators Gregory Matthews Posted August 27, 2014 Moderators Posted August 27, 2014 I watched the interview. I am willing to say that each was coming from a different perspective and neither criticized the other. However, from my perspective, Carson gained in positive perspective by the public and Jackson came across in a negative manner. IOW, based solely on that one interview, Carson increased the number of votes that he might get if he runs for President. Of course, this does not mean that I think that he could win either the nomination or if he ran. A major question for me; Would Carson accept that nomination for Vice-President? Quote Gregory
Moderators lazarus Posted August 27, 2014 Moderators Posted August 27, 2014 Two black men exchanging different opinions about racism in America !!!! The racebater versus the reasonable black. Some things never change. Quote Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocrities. The latter cannot understand it when a man does not thoughtlessly submit to hereditary prejudices but honestly and courageously uses his intelligence. Einstein
