Woman Becomes Oldest Person Ever At 127

Sep 1st 2014

A woman in Mexico may be the oldest living person ever.

According to her family, Leandra Becerra Lumbreras turned 127 years old on Sunday, though she is unable to take the Guinness World Record because her birth certificate was lost 40 years ago when she was moving houses.

Lumbreras, who says she was born August 31, 1887, has 73 great-grandchildren and another 55 great-great-grandchildren. But sadly, has already buried her five children, many of her 20 grandchildren.

One of her granddaughters told a Mexican newspaper that despite the fact she's deaf and is suffering from cataracts, she still keeps the family entertained with the stories of her life. One of which is the story of when she fought in the Mexican Revolutions which started in 1910.

Her granddaughter added, "She was always a woman who fought. She was still sewing and weaving until about two years ago. She never ceased to be active, that's why we think she's lived so long."

Her family also credits her long life to eating well, never getting married, and long durations of sleep. Apparently she sometimes sleeps three days straight.

According to the Guinness Book of World Records, Japan's Misao Okawa is the oldest living person. She's 115; twelve years younger than Lumbreras.

Mexican officials are currently investigating the family's claim, and if it checks out they will provide a new birth certificate so Lumbreras can be recognized for not only the oldest person on earth, but the oldest verified age ever. The latter record stands at 122 years and 164 days.

Everything you do is based on the choices you make. It's not your parents, your past relationships, your job, the economy, the weather, an argument, or your age that is to blame. You and only you are responsible for every decision and choice you make, period ... ... Wish more people would realize this.
