Sojourner Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 I heard that Jim Bakker had released a new book relating to his views on end times theology, on one article I read this quote from him on the Prosperity Gospel which I thought was interesting in terms of the conclusion he reached. The more I studied the Bible, however, I had to admit that the prosperity message did not line up with the tenor of Scripture. My heart was crushed to think that I led so many people astray. I was appalled that I could have been so wrong, and I was deeply grateful that God had not struck me dead as a false prophet! Still he did not manage to convince Jerry Falwell who once said "Jim Bakker is probably the greatest scab and cancer on the face of Christianity." Thoughts? Quote

Falwell died in 2007, so his comment would have been from some time ago likely closer in time to Bakker's downfall and disgrace. Whatever Fawell said couldn't have been in reaction to what Bakker wrote recently. Quote "Absurdity reigns and confusion makes it look good." "Sinless perfection is such a shallow goal." General Christianity's problem for the most part is that we often see ourselves in relationship to how bad others behave, when for the most part it is far better to look at ourselves in comparison to Jesus, especially if we expect to receive the grace we have to have as the last Christian body of believers on earth.
