FallingRock44 Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 Is there a difference pertaining to the usage of Jesus Christ and Christ Jesus in the Pauline Epistles?? One thought I found is. FROM http://www.icr.org/article/6140/ "Paul, on the other hand, first encountered Christ in all His glory on the road to Damascus. Perhaps, as a consequence, he frequently reversed the order, speaking of Christ Jesus, although he used both orders many times. The reason for this choice of order perhaps can best be illustrated in Philippians 2:5-11. In verse 5, Paul described the anointed One, who first emptied Himself of certain aspects of His deity to take on human form. Therefore, Paul used the name Christ Jesus. In verse 11, however, the order is reversed. In this case, as in our text, the movement is from humanity to glory. In one, the glory of the risen Savior is emphasized; in the other, the glory that we shall share with Him. This glory is assured us through His victory. JDM" I seem to remember another thought that I cannot find at the moment that: Jesus Christ "emptied Himself of certain aspects of His deity to take on human form." and Christ Jesus was as the only beloved son of GOD in all his Glory. Another is long and involved with charts and the posters personal opinons. FROM http://www.christianforums.com/t5575654/ Maybe I just think too much at times and not enough at others when questiions run through my mind. Quote
Administrators Gail Posted October 9, 2014 Administrators Posted October 9, 2014 LOL Thinking too much... not like I've been guilty of that!!! Brain working overtime! I've never given a thought as to which order the Christ and the Jesus should appear. To attach Christ (Anointed One) to Jesus would have been a big leap of faith for any Jew of the day, I would think. phkrause 1 Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
FallingRock44 Posted October 10, 2014 Author Posted October 10, 2014 Gail It is even worse when trying to remember somthing and your thought pattern just hit a dead end and starts to loop "I cannot remember at the moment" Gail 1 Quote
JoeMo Posted October 10, 2014 Posted October 10, 2014 I hate it when ...wait... what are we talking about? Gail 1 Quote
Gustave Posted October 14, 2014 Posted October 14, 2014 He was The Christ for eternity - before He was / became Jesus... ...For a Trinitarian either way equates to the same thing. ...For an Arian the most important part is maintaining that Christ could have sinned and lost His salvation. Quote
