LifeHiscost Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 I praise God. Now today I can say loudly "Oh, how I love thy Law" and really mean it. I came to that opinion many years after becoming "religiously" oriented after baptism, although I have no doubt of the Holy Spirit's personal presence in that service. However it wasn't until it was impressed on my mind that Jesus called His disciples friends that I came to the conclusion love was expressed in everyone of God's injunctions for His children, including the major one that the vast majority of Christians have found has no validity. God is Love! Jesus saves! Quote Lift Jesus up!!

I found for my mac "firefox" has worked better than all the rest put together. Even on my wife's pc it works best. But than each different OS works different with each browser and with each different brand of Computer. So unfortunately there are many variables that effect any given problem. aka Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 Hi there PK For over a decade now I too have only heard the good reputation of Firefox. I use Kaspersky anti-viren software and haven't problems with invasions. And also I scan often with Malebytesware. All Mac users have boasted of good PC performance to me. Linux users have told me they are secure in knowledge all will function rightly. But I am so comfortable using Win7 now on my microsoft operating system that I won't, most likely, change. The bad news of all of this is that my good geek has moved away to the big city so I have no mentor now. I live in the boondocks and need to have the new mentor come to my home because I had disconnecting all those wires and plug-ins for him to check out everything. I know where some computer geeks in an office group are but none of them are willing to drive to my place I know I need to overcome my unbelief that there is someone out there with knowledge who is willing to come and help me. What I need to do is to get up and go look for one in the hopes the new one is up to scratch with all the newest in PC knowledge. Quote
aka Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 I came back in to edit and apparently over stepped some sort of e-limit border and the warning sign that I don't have permission to do 'that' came up. I logged out and relogged in. This sentence was not written rightly:.... my home because I had disconnecting all those wires and plug-ins for him to check out everything. Change the 'had' to 'hate' and you'll get my drift a whole lot clearer. All this I am writing in Firefox, btw. Quote

aka Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 Please forgive me for printing the wrong information above in post #23. I was telling about my stay at Moody Bible Institute. All of which was half wrong. Actually, Dwight Moody and Ira Sankey were having often over a period of 15 years Evangelism revival tent preaching in Glasgow, Scotland. His burden was to teach the new converts in Christian sanctification as well as bible history. So he initiated the start of Glasgow Bible Training institute. It was opened for students 1892. It moved in 1980 to a former Church of Scotland building and is now known as Glasgow Bible College. I actually was for a visit in Moody Bible Institute in Chicago. I got the name of the two places mixed up, sorry. My friend who hosted my stay was a graduate of the school. She took me down to the cellar. It was in the early ‘70’s and it had this huge coal burning oven down there sending heat upstairs and the room was comfy warm. In those days a spirit of worship and awe of God was taught and practiced. I was told that much emphasis by staff was the admonishment to the students to get alone daily privately in prayer for others beside themselves. The evidence was seen all over the walls in Bible verses. Verses that guided the prayer lives of the students kneeling there. I felt so small and needy. aka Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 Peace is this thread's Topic. I pray that nothing remains abstract but will increase each one's personal experience. The Beatitudes present a set of Christian ideals. I sense that Jesus had in mind a focus on a spirit of love and humility when He taught them. I read through them often. Peace and happiness follow when the principles He taught are applied to interaction with others. Most of us have learned that body-soul-mind-spirit are all interrelated in a person. Often when on is mentally unwell the spirit of the person gets down in the dumps which can cause the body to break out in some sickness. When the mind threatens the whole of the person with negative thoughts much of anxiety and fears play a part in decisions we make. Which then in the long run prove disasterous for us and others. Our Lord God strives for our well-being. Meaning, He prefers that we seek peace in our dealing with others. That entails self-control of our hot tempers. It means to be disciplined with our tongue. To curb unruly impulses to vindicate ourselves with lies, or slandering another to be a scapegoat for what we caused in the problem. Quote

aka Posted December 20, 2014 Posted December 20, 2014 Have you ever sat in the auditorium of your child's elementry school to watch the Nativity Play they put on? Eventually comes in a white gowned little girl wrapped in a golden sash and with some sort of crown on her head to keep the long fake golden curly hair in place. The wings on her back are very impressively made. She waves a sort of wand (for the sake of effects most surely) with a shiney star on the tip and declares in a loud voice: Luke 2 "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men." A very lovely sentiment. However, is it being put into reality here on earth? And now after two milleniums tell me where this peace is? But I can point to child abuse, female misuse, violence in every social strata, hatred, killings and all imaginable sufferings of animals cause by human actions. What do you think of when reading these texts..... Luke 12 "Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division." Matthew 10 “I did not come to bring peace but a sword.” Quote
aka Posted December 20, 2014 Posted December 20, 2014 Jesus Christ came to “bring a sword” to cut through every kind of peace that is not based on a personal relationship with Himself. If an angel should fly from heaven and inform the believer personally of the Savior’s love for him, the evidence would not be one bit more satisfactory than that which is borne in the heart by the Holy Spirit. Ask the Lord’s people who have lived the nearest to the heart of God, and they will tell you that they have had seasons when the love of Christ toward them has been a fact so clear and sure that they could no more doubt it than they could question their own existence. What about those times when you and I have had times of refreshing from the presence of the Lord, and then our faith has soared to the heights of assurance? Remember? The theme of the world’s religion today is to serve in a pleasant, non-confrontational manner. Our church communities are so sewed up with cords of proper protocol of ‘how’ to behave, then which proper religious jargon to use in order to be accepted as one of them, and not to forget the steady amount of money to give so to be looking good in the eyes of the leadership. Our Lord God sighs when seeing the self-centerness of His children. We have forgotten the Gospel Commission. It's the calling of a New Testament worker to expose sinners to what separates them from God and to reveal Jesus Christ as Savior. Consequently, times will be there when we can’t always be charming and friendly. We are called to heed the Holy Spirit conviction in us to speak sharply against evil. We must also be sharply intent on sensing those Scripture passages that will drive the truth home when we witness to others, or when giving personal bible studies to others, and then not be afraid to apply them. But our only priority must be to present Jesus Christ crucified, to lift Him up all the time: 1 Corinthians 2:2. Every belief of salvation that is not firmly rooted in the cross of Christ will lead people astray. Quote
Administrators Gail Posted January 8, 2015 Author Administrators Posted January 8, 2015 I especially like what you said about the reality of the Holy Spirit speaking to our hearts. How do we prove something like that? We can't... But it is real notwithstanding. phkrause 1 Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
aka Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 Our Lord promised to send those 12 disciples a Comforter as replacement for his absent presence. Not knowing what He meant but just winging it on faith they waited till Pentecost and experienced a full confrontation of Jesus’ Spirit filling them. They got baptized in the Spirit. His Holy Spirit is a person who reduces the intensity of our fears. Also He calms and pacifies, or commiserates with us when we have misfortune. But then thinking about it I see misfortune as a word looking like it comes from the area of superstition and occult. Like we are as Christians are delivered up to bad luck, harmful or unpleasant happenings, threatening bodily sicknesses, and such other gloomy experiences. All arbitrarily orchestrated by evil spirits flying around doing the dirty on people. All such randomness in life’s events stops for genuine Christians who seek to keep connected to the vine, who drink and eat from the body of Christ daily, and who speak with him in prayer without ceasing. Then His Spirit within bears with our spirit that we belong to the children of God. Therefore we are enveloped in the peace of God that passes all understanding. You’re absolutely right Gail, the Holy Spirit speaks to our hearts and you have experienced that for sure. What bothers me is that a demon assigned to me by the BigBoss-EvilOne talks to my heart from the outside and tries to plant in my mind all sorts of evil acts I ought to do, or give in to temptation on some anti-law of God. So I need really to be alert to what the will of God is on matters. Only then can I draw near to God and resist the demon so to overcome possibly sinning. Naomi 1 Quote
aka Posted January 10, 2015 Posted January 10, 2015 The peace of God comes to those living in the light of God. Such ones walk their life's path within the will of God. Each of us is alloted a portion of faith in accordance to His will. Some of us accomplish much in the kingdom because because we have been endowed with tasks and responsibility according to the faith within us. Some of us might be responsible for less because we are at another maturity or endowment of faith than the others. All in all, when one is a good faithful steward with their one talent so they will be rewarded as justly as the one investing their 10 talents and showing big winnings. Last year great sorrows overcame me. Much like those tsunami waves as they spilled over embankments to flood the living quarters of people on coastal towns. What I testify to is the heavenly peace at that moment which had been flowing day for day. It caused me to do a spiritual system scan. It was well with my soul. I am connected to the Vine. The power of Jesus Christ had thoroughly witnessed to me of His blood shed which I had applied in faith to my soul. Jesus was He who imputed His righteousness to my being and declared me to be a child of God. It is His peace with God that enveloped me even though I need daily to renew the conscious awareness of my status before Him. If I neglect bible study and prayer my emotional life goes astray. Doubts come and anxiety about many matters starts to colour my emotional life. I'm being watch by the Voltermore, the EvilOne, who's looking to buffet me with trails. I go all weak if I do not have daily strength from communion with Him. Blessed assurance gives me strong knowledge that Christ regards my helpless condition when under devil attack. His Spirit within convicts me of any hidden sin or guilt in connection with the unpleasant circumstances that the Enemy is using to break me in someway. I confess where I went wrong and ask for forgiveness. Praise God. He cleanses me from even the sin of today and does not hold it against me in a grudge box. I must say that when I am on my death bed and suffer from enormous pain, I want to look in trust that He will whisper peace to my soul so I can smile and Praise Him for being the answer to the human race’s greatest need of a Savior for their sinful condition. aka Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 If you are not at peace with someone who matters to you, the first rule of inner peace is Jesus’ peaceful way to make things better. In Matthew 7:5, He taught, “First take the plank out of your own eye and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.” This remarkable spiritual principle heals old wounds and lays the foundation for healing and inner peace even if relationships do not reconcile. ‘Specks’ are faults that we see in others, and ‘planks’ are the judgments we hold about those faults. The fact that we are not at peace with someone who matters to us is proof of the “plank” in our eye. “Specks” are God’s mirror, reflecting back to us our own faults and aspects of ourselves that we reject or deny. Thus the faults of church family members are God’s doorway to reconciling ourselves to Him as His child.By noticing and becoming neutral about the “specks” that upset us in another person, we resolve issues and experience a growing sense of inner peace. We become ever more sensitive to being led by the promptings of the Holy Spirit. We have inner peace and believe it is an indicator of being close to God. It would be wiser not to rely on our feelings in this aspect. There might be a love of money hidden deep in us that has turned money into idol worship and our conscious has not yet been pricked about it. We trust the money we have when in need and look past beyond the face of Jesus to get financial problems solved. But when our souls start getting really panicky when money is flowing away but the debts grow higher there is no sense of inner peace. Quote

aka Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 Anger, hateful feelings for another, aggravated for what someone did, and just plain frustrated with daily life in general. Such is not the condition God wants us to live in. You’ve read this already, but pause now and read it again in the amplified version. In John 14:27 (AMP), Jesus says, “Peace I leave with you: My own peace I now give…to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.” In clear text it’s saying to stop allowing yourselves to be agitated and disturbed; and do not permit yourselves to be fearful and intimidated, or cowardly and unsettled. Of course, you’ve experienced worldly peace when everything is going your way. But the peace Jesus gives is a totally different quality of peace than what the world gives. It’s a peace that passes our understanding; it makes us peaceful when all natural reasoning says we should be upset. We can make the decision to stop allowing ourselves to get upset, aggravated and frustrated. Although we may think, “I can’t help it,” according to Jesus, we can help it. He offers us peace that can keep us from getting this way. We will never break loose from anything we’re struggling with until we take personal responsibility for where we are now for what we have to do. It’s important for us to realize that we have a responsibility to not let our hearts be troubled or afraid. As I began to take responsibility in control over my negative emotional reactionary habits, I practiced positive words by saying "I have faith that God will help me to do something about this". "I really want Him to". It wasn’t easy and it didn’t happen overnight, but as I trusted God more and more God to help me, my bad habits changed. My natural inclination to get angry with someone, to lash out with bad words and with cursing them to have something bad to happen, stopped. I kept saying to myself that I am now a Christian. A little Christ. Then I made right choices to act like Christ instead of the way I felt like acting when I was upset. I learned to live with the peace Jesus gives me. It’s a supernatural experience any genuine Christian grows into when maturing in the Christian life. I noticed over time how willing I was to hear the truth, but in many circumstances not so willing to do what truth says. It took time to develop the willingness to be determined and persistent in seeking God and being obedient to what He’s telling me to do. I sort of do a mind-imagination picture projection in planning ahead to stay peaceful during trials. It’s inevitable I’m going to have to go through trials and tribulation. We Christians are heavenly programmed for it. Be it from the powers to be out of the Heavenly Throne, or be it coming from the kingdom of the EvilOne himself. The former for the sake of purifying off the dross so we shine as gold, and the latter because of the destroyer out to eat us up.Everything is not going to go my way all the time, and when it doesn’t, I want to be prepared to stay in peace in the midst of it all. I prepare to relax ahead of time and let the peace of God flood me in times before the trail by giving myself a pep-talk “With God’s help, I don’t have to be aggravated or frustrated. I can stay calm and hold my tongue and temper.” Being peaceful when all is chaos around me calls for me to display stability and remain calm for the sake of others around. This peace of Christ flowing out in troubled times can be one of our greatest testimonies to troubled people close to us who have “lost it”. Quote
joeb Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Is there a price that is too high to pay for peace? Jesus thought so, and said so: Matthew 10:24 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. Peace at any price, otherwise called appeasement, has never brought peace. It has only brought about the sacrifice of principle and the strengthening of evil. I will have peace whenever possible, but not when it comes at the price of principle and truth. Jesus thought the same, that's why He said He came to send a sword for there can never be real peace between good and evil. phkrause 1 Quote Liberty cannot be established without morality, nor morality without faith.Alexis de Tocqueville
