Dr. Shane Posted November 18, 2005 Posted November 18, 2005 SENATORS FAIL TO GET BUILDINGS NAMED AFTER SELVES Quote: But rule XXI of the House Rules for the 109th Congress states: "6. It shall not be in order to consider a bill, joint resolution, amendment, or conference report that provides for the designation or redesignation of a public work in honor of an individual then serving as a Member, Delegate, Resident Commissioner, or Senator." (Source: [http://www.rules.house.gov/archives/21RXXI.htm] So it seems Congress cannot pass legislation which names public works' projects after a sitting Congressmen, state and local governments can. For example, a school district can name a school after a sitting Congressman. Or a city can name a street after a sitting Senator. I don't like it. I don't think any tax-funded project at any level should be named after any sitting politician. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Find me at www.PostumCafe.com Author of Peculiar Christianity
