LifeHiscost Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 I've been trying to figure out how to get rid of a bunch of instructional CDs, and DVDs that I didn't think would be good to give to others, that give strong impetuous to see this world as the best place to put all their marbles. You've given me an answer, I think. I only hope the discs don't cause severe damage to the mower blade. People can relate to a whole sorts of obscenely exaggerated scenarios. Should these scenarios be promoted and exemplified? I understand if you post it for brainless entertainment, but I'm not even sure how we can have intelligent discussion given rather irrational behavior portrayed on either side of the issue. Quote

One really great thing about freedom is if something annoys you or you feel unable to have an intelligent discussion no one can force you to do so. I guess whether it should be used as an example is not something you and I can dictate. Whether this is real or not it is not obscenely exaggerated. A friend of ours had two extremely spoiled teenage daughters. And yes it was the fault of his wife and him that they were. He became extremely frustrated when he tried to change things. The girls each had a very expensive cell phone.Glued to their ear or texting constantly,to the point that they could not even eat supper together without the phones in use.He talked to them,tried to reason,threatened to no avail. One day as they were on their way to church the girls were actually texting each other in the back seat instead of talking to each other. He stopped the car threw the cell phones out and drove over them. They not only lost their phones but the only way they could have another was to get a job and pay for the phone and service themselves. Only for something important could they have access to their parents phone.The girls were almost hysterical. But as extreme as it was,they survived,got jobs and found that the cell phone was not the reason for their existence. Why parents raise their children to believe that the world and mom and dad owe them everything,I can't answer.But I can understand how the parents end up so frustrated they resort to extreme measures. A couple of years ago we had a father locally that reached his limit with his daughter. Her lack of cooperation around the home,falling grades and lies on facebook Especially the internet and facebook.When he ran across the crude postings on facebook he also went to extremes. He posted his replies to her facebook and then took a video of what he had said he would do. Smashing her computer in the front yard. Family computer was kept in a locked room so she lacked access. It captured a lot of attention and was discussed for days on early morning talk radio locally. Most parents gave it a thumbs up. The girl hated her father for a short time, but in the end when she was allowed access to a computer again,she thanked him publically for a hard but much needed wake up call. Right? fccool Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 I'm actually exercising my freedom to ask you questions in an open forum designed to do so , whether I'm annoyed or not is irrelevant in terms of the ambiguity of what exactly such video attempts to accomplish ... ether as an advice, or a portrayal of justified parental action, or entertainment. fccool Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 I was running the other day, and a kid was lying on a sidewalk... and appeared dead. He had a blanket on top of him, but he was out. I gave him the benefit of the doubt the first time around. The second time around I decided to check to make sure he was ok... I nudged him, and got no response. I noticed vomit all over the sidewalk. I shook him, and got none. I was about to call cops and ambulance when he slowly began responding and getting up and waddling over to knock on his parents door... who apparently locked him out for a night to teach a lesson... Well. I do have mixed feelings about it, since the guy could have died of hypothermia. It was fairly cold in the early Spring... but I guess it was lesser concern for the parents in that case. Quote
