TrevorL Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 Greetings Gail, Does anyone here use LOGOS software? It now has a Seventh-Day Adventist module: https://www.logos.com/products/search?q=SDA Yes I use Logos software, but I am not a SDA. I have bought various reference packages giving numerous translations and other reference material. My version number is Version 3f, hence I have not kept up with the latest versions. These later versions are expensive and I have let version 4 and 5 go by. They are now offering Version 6. From my perspective such add-on books like SDA material would be of benefit, as I have also numerous add-ons for my particular interests. I also enjoy the search facilities and the ability to make notes on particular verses or words in a verse, and these also appear as pop-up notes when the verse is active in a window. The linking facility between say Strong's number and other reference material is also helpful. If you have numerous Bible versions you can ask for a verse in each of these translations to be opened in a window. There must be many advanced features in the later Versions of Logos, but I have not ventured to find out. Kind regards Trevor Quote
Moderators Gregory Matthews Posted November 8, 2014 Moderators Posted November 8, 2014 Logos software: Yes, and you can spend $1,000 for one of the SDA versions. But, if you want to go to their general versions, you can exceed $10,000 in price. Personally, I am not prepared to spend 10K on software. if I did, I would expect that it would become long out of date due to MS changing their operating system. Quote Gregory

Administrators Gail Posted November 8, 2014 Author Administrators Posted November 8, 2014 Yes, I have been using logos software for many years, and am very pleased with it. I have the SDABC & EGW's published writings incorporated in it. That is what I found that would be handy. There is quite a lot of old and new theological material that I can see would be very useful to the serious scholar of any denomination wanting to research the SDA church. Just the 2 works mentioned by Gerry would be of great help, but I'm also thinking of Stefanovic and Doukhan's Daniel and Revelation, the works of Paulien and LaRondelle, the set that contains, The Lost Meaning of the Sabbath, etc. Gregory, when I logged in yesterday I saw that the SDA module, the biggest one, is $150 off. I think actually that all Silver sets are that price. As you noted, when you measure the value of such to the cost of the real books there is tremendous saving for the serious Bible scholar.
