I believe she wrote a book about her experiences, or someone else did. I can't find it right now. Both my parents and my grandparents served as missionaries in Ethiopia in the 1950s. I read a fascinating book about what happened to Selassie's descendants after his death in 1975. They had to hide out or be killed. The book was about how some were helped to escape. I wish I could remember the title. At that time Ethiopia was under Communist control and such applications were not possible. So I am only Ethopian if having been born on red Ethiopian soil and loving injera and wot from as early as possible counts. Quote LD

If you had wanted to choose dual citizenship, as of 2003 you would have had to choose between being a citizen of Ethiopia or of the United States, as Ethiopia categorically does not recognize dual citizenship..
