Federal Deficit

In FY 2013, the U.S. Federal deficit was 680 billion dollars.

 

At the end of FY 2014 the U.S. Federal deficit had been lowered to 486 billion dollars.

Thanks for the info. I've heard on the radio, that the deficit has come down each year for a number of years.

That must be why the Federal debt isn't growing much anymore.  Right?  It's only grown from $10 trillion at the end of 2008 to now past $18 trillion.  Just think, Obama's cut the deficit so much he's only created as much debt as all Presidents combined before before the end of the fiscal year 2006.  What a financial genius he is.  He's put on such a solid financial footing.  And to think he said Bush's spending was reckless and irresponsible. 

 

Unfortunately the published Federal debt is only a small part of the US's indebtedness.  The unfunded liabilities the US government has created dwarfs the "funded" debt.  It's only 14% of the money we really owe.  Our unfunded liabilities are now at $127 trillion.  The following link gives a good explanation of all of this.
