Projects like space exploration tend to create technological spinoffs which leads to improvements in our daily lives. Now wasted money, to me, is to pay welfare to men and women who don't work, they just have more and more babies, supported, naturally, by us taxpayers.

Most people in the world don't really have it altogether. That's why this promise is so needed.

NASA's entire budget accounts for less than one half of one percent of the total Federal budget.  The return on that investment in our future is hard to calculate.  But on a more immediate level, such expenditures do contribute positively to the economy of this country multiple times the few billion expended for such research and technology development.

 

Cutting science and research expediters in the budget is a very short-sighted measure.

Or we could just watch the grass grow.........

Some seem to think that exploration of our universe is a waste of monies, resourses and time. Would be a shame to think that God created humans to only think in one direction and not use the full capabilities of it. Usually that thought goes along with 'well, it's the end of the world and we have better things to do' which in my mind is rather narrow minded. We should be rejoicing for the accomplishments of the human mind and thanking God for allowing us to use the mind with out boundries. Perhaps some may not be happy with heaven because there will not be anyone or anything to point a finger at and 'wag' it.!!!

And when there are not enough jobs to go around!!!!!!!!!!!! What than. Are we going to judge those that don't work and say that we know for a fact that they don't want to?????????????

I was talking about the mindset of man to make their own effort and achievements supremely reflective of their own power and what we may see in the immediate future as a result. It isn't without precedent.

It's more a lack of initiative and creative thinking.

 

I was usually laid off between construction jobs, which were often hundreds of miles away from my family. I finally took the initiative to get some medical training, and now I work as much overtime that I want. Our government makes it easy and desirable for women to have babies in order to get on welfare, and, to increase their benefits. Why work, or even look, when there's free money out there...

 

I'd much rather see my tax dollars going to space exploration and the jobs and technology it creates rather than to welfare moms who like all that free money, sitting in front of the TV, drinking, smoking, slapping the kids around.

 

The politicians, too, like all that free money, and if they can't find a way to waste it today, they'll waste it tomorrow.
