Parable of the prodigal poodle

Today my poodle wandered out the door and into the snow just before dusk. It was cold, and he is small, and hard to see in the dark. The roads were icy. So I donned my warm boots and coat and started walking and calling. And when I found him, I carried him home rejoicing. And the Master said to me, You care this much for your dog, but your friends who do things that bug you, I care for them (and you too). I left Heaven for them too. And I rejoice when I find them. Remember how you love your dog when people do things that bother you. And remember I want to bring them back home.

 

Written 5 years ago... now he is gone after a lingering illness and it makes me think the humans who try and annoy me now one day too may be gone.. now is the time I have to love them...
