Robert Posted December 26, 2014 Posted December 26, 2014 Matt 23:5 "But all their works they do are to be seen by men." All self-righteousness lifts up, not God, but men. This is the essence of sin and "the man of sin". The third angels's message (justification by faith) is, Rev 14:7 "Fear God and give glory to Him, for the hour of His judgment has come; and worship Him who made heaven and earth, the sea and springs of water." 8 And another angel followed, saying, "Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she has made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication." The above is speaking about spiritual Babylon. Notice what led to the fall of actual Babylon: Dan 4:30 The king spoke, saying, "Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for a royal dwelling by my mighty power and for the glory of my majesty?" Same issue!!!! The Pope is wretched a sinner! He allows him to be addressed as "His Holy Father", "His Holiness", etc. He brings glory to himself. "The papacy that Protestants are now so ready to honor is the same that ruled the world in the days of the Reformation," Ellen White stated, "when men of God stood up, at the peril of their lives, to expose her iniquity." (ibid., The Great Controversy, page 571). "She (the Papacy) possesses the same pride and arrogant assumption that lorded it over kings and princes, and claimed the prerogatives of God" Quote
