Points of Possession

A FUN QUIZ:                                     
How does a person come into possession of something?
How many of these are demonstrated or spoken of, in the Scriptures with reference to the possession of Christ, or of mankind, or of Satan ?

I thought it might be interesting to see the many ways in which the dynamics of salvation, are explained in terms of possession, or of ownership.

1.  He can create it.  (Opposite: He can destroy it.)

God is our creator.  He created the earth.  Therefore He owns it. (Psa. 24:1, I Cor 10:26)

2.  He can buy it, or buy it back thru ransom.   (Opposite:  He can sell it.)  

"We are bought with a price."  (I Cor 7:23)

3.  He can receive it in payment of debts.    (Opposite:  He can forgive the debt.)

Jesus Christ paid our debt, by His death.  (Matt 18:23-35) 

 

4.  He can receive it in fulfillment of a covenant.  

Jesus Christ fulfilled the TERMS of the covenants with Adam, Abraham, and Israel. 

He will therefore take possession of "the land".

5.  He can find it   (abandoned or unclaimed property)

“I found you wandering in the desert.” 

Luke 19:10 "for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost." (Luk 19:10 NKJ)

    NOTE:  Like a brand on cattle, or a tag - circumcision or blue borders was the mark of God on His property.

        (Opposite: He can loose it.)

5.  He can recover it (stolen or lost property).  “Went in search of that which was lost.”

6.  He can inherit it. - thru blood line descent or thru adoption

"He has by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they." (Heb. 1:4)

        (Opposite: He can disinherit, or “cut off”.)

7.  He can receive it as a gift.  (Opposite: He can refuse it, or give it away.)

8.  He can marry it  (acquire it through marriage)   (Opposite: He can divorce it.)

The Sinai covenant was a marriage covenant.

We are betrothed to Christ by a new Covenant of Marriage. (2 Cor 11:2)

9.  He can borrow it - legally, (with the owner's permission) intending to give it back.  (Opposite:  He can return it.)

Israelites were not allowed to charge interest of fellow Israelites. 

Question:  Are we living on "borrowed" time?  Did we borrow out lives? 

Did the LORD lend us "life" - without interest - for a period of time?

10. He can steal it - illegally - without the owner’s permission.
    Through deception or use of force.
        (Opposite: He can restore it five fold.)

11. He can squat on it - illegal - a temporary form of stealing.

I personally see Satan as a squatter. 

 

12.  He can loose it by a Court judgment.
