Members phkrause Posted January 23, 2015 Members Posted January 23, 2015 Adventist Denomination Joined Case About Religious Signs From ANN, Jan. 17, 2015: Religious liberty issues were argued in a case this week before the United States Supreme Court and the Seventh-day Adventist denomination was among many organizations to have taken sides in the dispute. The case began in 2007 when the pastor of a small, nondenominational congregation in Arizona objected to the regulations the town placed on his signs inviting people to worship. Moderators Gregory Matthews Posted January 24, 2015 Moderators Posted January 24, 2015 Yes, the SDA Church as filed an amicus curiae brief in this case. That simply means that they filed a document which stated an argument or position. That was probably the appropriate thing to do. The only cost to the denomination was the time spent in legal research, preparing the document and filing it. As to how helpful it will be to the Court remains to be seen.
