CoAspen Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 Interesting topic...didn't subscribe for the whole article. Certainly should be interesting to read, though. Quote
joeb Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 I'm like CoAspen and didn't subscribe just to read the entire article. From what I did read I have to say I like Ted Wilson more all the time. The man gets it. He understands how his church is being taken apart at the seams. Quote Liberty cannot be established without morality, nor morality without faith.Alexis de Tocqueville

bonnie Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 "Wilson listed ways that Satan is attacking Adventism, including attempts to make it easier to join..." That Jesus guy, who said 'Go out into the highways and byways, and compel them to come in' was obviously a dangerous radical. Why should someone that does not accept the beliefs of the SDA chruch be baptized as a member. All should be welcome to attend. It is not a question of seeing how hard it can be made but what does the applicant believe. This 'Go out into the highways and byways, and compel them to come in' . doesn't say no matter what they believe they would be followers of that Jesus guy “Don’t proclaim a ‘generic’ Christianity or a ‘cheap-grace Christ,’ which does not point to the distinctive biblical truths to be declared worldwide” by Adventists (who regard themselves as God’s faithful remnant)..The underlined is not to make it harder but following what the SDA church believes to be true There are many generic christian churches or those that believe in cheap grace ,denying or not believing what the SDA church teaches. bonnie Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 Nice post, Bonnie. You have a lot of wisdom. I fail to understand why some SDA's or former SDA's believe that the denomination is somehow lacking when they don't welcome all to join regardless of what they believe. We have a couple of Lutheran churches in town that I have a great deal of respect and admiration for. Their outreach is exceptional. However I would lose respect for their beliefs and actions if they felt they had to set them aside so I could become a member. It is really arrogance to demand someone or a org set aside what they believe to include those that do not accept the beliefs and teachings of a denomination Quote Everything you do is based on the choices you make. Moderators Bravus Posted January 29, 2015 Moderators Posted January 29, 2015 I don't see Jesus making these distinctions. Reason all you like, argue all you like. Paul is in the same camp: "I have become all things to all (people) so that I might by all means save some". People can, themselves, choose to be 'not of the body', but the overwhelming message of the gospel is that God is 'not willing that any should perish'. Human rules directed at keeping people out rather than inviting people in are in opposition to this feature of God's heart. CoAspen 1 Quote Truth is important

Human rules directed at keeping people out rather than inviting people in are in opposition to this feature of God's heart. One thing that I won't do is use your reasoning. Save some is not quite the same as save all regardless of what they believe. It goes without saying that God does not want one to be lost, but it is their choice,to obey God or the reasoning of fallible men. No contest. Revelation 12:17 Then the dragon was enraged at the woman and went off to wage war against the rest of her offspring--those who keep God's commands and hold fast their testimony about Jesus. The above is not human rules. I place far more importance on that text than I do anything you have to ofer or "argue with your human reasoning Quote Everything you do is based on the choices you make. Aliensanctuary Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 I don't think that Jesus was trying to get anyone to join some man-made denomination, rather, it was the Kingdom of YHVH, which is far different than today's religions. Whether billions join the SDA church, or not, is irrelevant. It's membership in the Kingdom of YHVH that should be our main concern.
