Members phkrause Posted January 31, 2015 Members Posted January 31, 2015 Relying on God Habitual complaining is the same problem the Israelites had on their way to the promised land. It is and always has been a spiritual issue of discontentment and a lack of thanksgiving for God’s provision. Here are five reasons this is true. Administrators Gail Posted January 31, 2015 Administrators Posted January 31, 2015 Yes! These are well worth considering. Complaining reveals that our eyes are earthward instead of fixed on Christ phkrause and LifeHiscost 2 Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Administrators debbym Posted February 6, 2015 Administrators Posted February 6, 2015 Yes Gail, Yes!! when i look at myself and those around me, when i look at the obstacles, i don't see how i am going to make it through. But when i look at Jesus, i don't see how i cannot make it through anything. Complete provision has been made for every need, for every emergency, for every failing and weakness, we do not have to go without Our Savior taking care of us, and growing us. Complaining separates me from God. I think the original sin was complaint about the special relationship and privileges Jesus had. It was certain dissatisfaction with how God was doing His business. LifeHiscost 1 Quote deb Love awakens love. Let God be true and every man a liar.
Moderators Gerr Posted February 7, 2015 Moderators Posted February 7, 2015 Here is an interesting quote from the SS quarterly: "Nothing tends more to promote health of body and of soul than does a spirit of gratitude and praise. It is a positive duty to resist melancholy, discontented thoughts and feelings -- as much a duty as it is to pray. If we are heaven-bound, how can we go as a band of mourners, groaning and complaining all along the way to our Father's house? Those professed Christians who are constantly complaining, and who seem to think cheerfulness and happiness a sin, have not genuine religion." MH 251. Tom Wetmore, Sojourner and phkrause 3 Quote
