aka Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 Hi there In this article I just read it tells us that Ethiopia is the only country Africa’s that was never colonized. It is considered to be one of the oldest countries in the world with mention in the Bible as the land of Kush by theEgyptians. Famine is the plague that kills widespread through the country. Close to 1 million deaths from hunger during 1983-1985. Canadian and American projects in the last 30 years have done a great help in showing how to recover from drought by using planting methods, irrigation methods and better harvest methods. It appears to me that the group made up of journalist, editors and Food-bank representatives went for the sake of seeing the results of aid to the famine victims. They arrived in Addis Ababa from east Canada after a non-stop flight of 14 hours. The FoodBank workers in the group went there over the last decades with the intent of teaching the people a type of harvest security. When the instructions were implemented the farmers report a 300% increase of harvest. The article was chocked full of other details that makes a good impression that the author did his/her best in gathering facts and figures of information. The trip was indeed an educational trip for the group to come back and inform those of us who are not in the ‘know’ about Ethiopia. I truly hope many will after reading be touched in their hearts to donate more to Adra of their monetary means. P.s. Two questions: 1. What exactly did you expect to see or experience before landing there in Ethiopia? 2. Are people still dying from famine in some parts of the land? Quote
