Answering questions that are not being asked.

I think perhaps the emphasis of observation of the topic title and the OP is on the questions the Church seems most preoccupied with, rather than the multitude of possible questions that the culture are asking.   We are simply focusing on issues that are of no interest to the culture that surrounds us, and in fact many of our own are very much a part of.  We have marginalized ourselves from culture and they lose interest in our increasingly irrelevant obsessions. 

 

Even larger issue is seems to be the generational gap between what the younger and older generation are looking from church.  

 

The older generation's idea of a church usually revolves around set standards that generally demand maintaining a belief... like coming in every week for an oil check or change.

 

All of this is sprinkled with some doomsday cult sentiment that tends to prompt "What are we doing here again?" from anyone who has younger children and would like to see them living productive lives that don't revolve around praying for the world to end sooner.

 

The new generation doesn't look for question as much as they look for valid purpose that accounts for their individuality and life interests.  The younger generation wants to learn and achieve things.   Instead, they come in and hear themselves completely discounted.   I don't think they care about answering questions, as much as they actually want to accomplish something besides awkward worldview that they don't see reflected in actual reality outside of the "bunker window".

 

Overall, there isn't a desire or a push by the church to make the world better for these kids.  Quite the opposite.  The push is to show the world is getting worse, and that's the predominant desire of people above 50 to see this world end soon.
