I have heard of women who have a checklist of virtues their potential Mr. Right is going to possess. So, expectations can be good and they can be not good. I expect that my college student son will do well and I communicate that to him. Good. I once knew a woman (Now dead.) who expected that her husband would fail to meet her expectations. So, she kept a note book where she recorded every time je failed her. On occasion she would review her record of his failures so that she would never forget them. Well, he continued to meet her expectations of failure. The time came when she decided to divorce him.
