I am sorry for the thousands that must move east for the sake of protecting their families. I pray that wisdom will be given to each for making the move in a timely fashion. If California's population gets pruned then the remnant will be able to exist on the amount of water available. Lauralea, the matter of desalinization is a true possibility. I don't know how far the scientists are in getting a plan going for such a massive amount of salt water to be turned into usable drink water. Quote

They were interviewing a lady that had brought up or tried telling them that they should pipe in water from the east, where or when they have those large floods. Instead of dumping or the water out to sea they could pipe the water to the west coast! I'm trying to find that interview and post it, but have not had any success finding it as of yet. One should think that the highest priority should be placed on agriculture and food production during a water shortage. Politicians have suggested that more dams could be built, but not for cheap. We pump water from a fair-sized year-round creek in northern CA, but water-meters may be coming and the creek may be getting smaller. Just another step closer to a totalitarian state. I think probably there need to be tax credits for it because California grows a large percentage of the nation's food. My favorite was: Don't bother with facts, you just confuse them... and other comments: -Taking water out of the Mississippi basin and transporting it across the country to an entirely different system seems like a superficial response to a much deeper problem. -Oil. Water. So similar I can't tell them apart when I bathe or drink them. -For the west to stays with in its natural water resources we will need to relocate about a third of the population of the U.S. at least 100 million people and we will lose between a third and a half of our agricultural production for the country. While we are depopulating the west and massively reducing our food production, the east has to absorb all those people and we will have to import enough food to replace lost production. The consensus appears to be a protest about doing a cross-country water pipe-line. However, with fantasiful Federal fiat money being printed even such an endeavor is feasible. I just wonder how the Saudi-Arabians cope with their water supplies? And how does Dubai manage to still build extravaganza's like "The World's Islands" when lots of water is needed for the new influx of population coming there? Quote
