The seventh day points back to the finished work of creation and forward to finished work of the kingdom of God. Both of these aspects of the Sabbath give us a peace and a rest in the the fact that God is real and His promises are yea and amen. Yes that is true it was not the law that created the 7th day Sabbath it was God. Why did God create the Sabbath? Not for Himself as there is no selfishness in Him. Why do we keep the Sabbath? The Sabbath did not precede the Law. I believe that the Sabbath was [literally] kept in heaven even before the creation of this world. "Before this earth was called into being, God’s law existed. Angels are [and have always been] governed by its principles..." (Mount of Blessings p.48) The Sabbath principle being among those eternal principles. Quote

God is eternal so He has no beginning or end but created beings have a beginning but the seven day week started in Genesis which included the seventh day Sabbath. God created the seven day week in Genesis and blessed the seventh day as part of the earth creation. The dwelling place of God was long before the earth. Can you show from the Bible there is no time in heaven? If you think there is no weekly cycle in heaven or a day as we have then that would be an assumption. Yes; I get to hang out with my Lord that day; but the Sabbath was created for man; not man for the Sabbath. Keeping the Sabbath does not get me "gold stars" in heaven. I honor the Sabbath because I CAN; not because I MUST. I kinda view it as "date night" with God. There must be time in heaven (at least in the Kingdom), How else could we gather on Sabbaths and New Moons and Feast Days, as depticted in Isaiah 66 AFTER God has created a new heaven and earth? I have not done any study on whether there is time in heaven as we know it but I can say that the seven day week with the Sabbath as being blessed is an earthly thing for man.
