Stewart (SDA) Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 Boiled Passover. The Passover Lamb, when it was being prepared for eating, was not to be eaten raw, nor was it to be boiled. It was important that the Lamb be roasted. (Exodus 12:8-9) It seems to me that the “savor” was very important in the Passover symbolism – it was to be especially guarded. The Lamb was not to be boiled, because boiling it would inevitably water down the character (or the savor,) of the Offering. When Jesus went through the fiery trials set before Him, even heavenly intelligences "tasted and saw" things in God's character which they had never before known. The fire brought out [manifested] Divine characteristics that were previously "hidden" to their view. ______________ The prohibition against "boiling" the Passover, says to me that anything that takes away the real “flavor” of the gospel is effectively forbidden. And yet, so much of what is served up in the churches today, is, in my view, boiled Passover -- bland, watered down, versions of reality. But I don't know whether any of us really knows any different. Quote
