Powers: ‘If Christians Threw 12 Muslims to Their Deaths Would Obama Have Been So Disinterested?’

 

Last week, many were dismayed by the news that twelve Christians had been drowned to death in the Mediterranean Sea during an attempt to migrate to Italy.

The Muslim immigrants accused of the drowning were charged by Italian police with “multiple aggravated murder motivated by religious hate.”

In a recent press conference, while standing next to President Obama, Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi spoke on the tragedy that befall his waters, insisting that religious differences were not at play.

The Washington Times reports:

“The problem is not a problem of clash of religions,” Mr. Renzi said through an interpreter. “It’s a problem of human dignity.”

President Obama remained silent on the matter as Renzi fielded questions.

This silence spoke volumes to Kirsten Powers, a Fox News Contributor and former Press Secretary to Andrew Cuomo. She responded with a passionate message to Obama in a USA Today piece. It read, in part:

As Renzi was questioned about the incident, Obama was mute on the killings. He failed to interject any sense of outrage or even tepid concern for the targeting of Christians for their faith. If a Christian mob on a ship bound for Italy threw 12 Muslims to their death for praying to Allah, does anyone think the president would have been so disinterested?

When three North Carolina Muslims were gunned down by a virulent atheist, Obama rightly spoke out against the horrifying killings. But he just can’t seem to find any passion for the mass persecution of Middle Eastern Christians or the eradication of Christianity from its birthplace.

Theoretically, forums exist to discuss issues, ideas, beliefs, and anything else that people wish to discuss even when severe disagreement exists. However, when an open lack of respect for another poster is displayed and what they write and express is openly ridiculed with no effort to actually discuss it, you have a poisoned atmosphere.

 

"G I G O", "Spam! Spam!", and all your other little disparagements really act to poison the atmosphere of ClubAdventist.

 

Perhaps you were unaware that this is a Seventh-day Adventist site which is a subset of the Christian faith and as such Heaven (God) is watching. To borrow from StarTrek, God has his eye scanning every soul on this earth for signs of who is worth of being saved and who is not. I assure you and feel confident that the habit of disparaging other people comments will not be an acceptable practice in heaven. Although people in heaven will be filled with joy and love for each other, it does not mean they will always agree, but in disagreement they will ALWAYS respect each other. 

 

Even as God is scanning us, we can see that in this text: "For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart." Hebrews 4:12

 

I have attempted to discuss this before but my post was deleted. Why my post was deleted and you continue to get away with trashing other members of this forum makes one wonder, except I already know that answer. But be assured that we all on this forum are being watch 24/7 for how we treat others here, in our families, in our churches, and in the world and in the end, we will answer for our behavior.

While it involves political leaders, it also had persons of a particular religion involved. There was no action to be taken. However, comments by political leaders can have an effect on the citizens and can betray the leaders feelings regarding different groups.

 

I think what the concern was that Obama could make comments when someone who is Muslim is affected, but is mute when it comes to Christians. And he continually finds ways to criticize Christians.

It just might be because Obama inserts himself into what he considers wrong doing if it concerns black or Muslim,but is strangely silent if it concerns Christian. From the very beginning of his presidency he began by saying a white cop had behaved stupidly dealing with what he thought was a black intruder. Even admitting he knew nothing of what had happened the white cop still behaved stupidly.He has continued to do so

Was Obama not awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for having brought peace to the Middle East?

 

Is it just media deception that the situation appears to be considerably far more worse now than then? If you were prepared to accept that award as Obama was, would it not suggest that you should then comment on the events you brought peace into?

Obama is a muslim by birth.  According the rule of this religion he is.  He attended a christian church where Jeremiah _ was the minister.  I feel he attended this

church for political reason nothing else. Obama never declared himself being a christian.  His behavior shows which side he is on.

My understanding of the Quran leads me to believe that the above statement is false.  

 

But, I am not positive.  So, I contacted an Islamic group and asked them if it were true that a child born to an Islamic family was automatically Islamic.

Religious persecution of Christians is rampant worldwide, as Pew has noted, but nowhere is it more prevalent than in the Middle East and Northern Africa, where followers of Jesus are the targets of religious cleansing. Pope Francis has repeatedly decried the persecution and begged the world for help, but it has had little impact. Western leaders — including Obama — will be remembered for their near silence as this human rights tragedy unfolded. The president's mumblings about the atrocities visited upon Christians (usually extracted after public outcry over his silence) are few and far between. And it will be hard to forget his lecturing of Christians at the National Prayer Breakfast about the centuries-old Crusades while Middle Eastern Christianswere at that moment being harassed, driven from their homes, tortured and murdered for their faith.

A week and a half after Obama's National Prayer Breakfast speech, 21 Coptic Christians were beheaded for being "people of the cross." Seven of the victims were former students of my friend and hero "Mama" Maggie Gobran, known as the "Mother Theresa of Cairo" for her work with the poorest of the poor. She told me these dear men grew up in rural Upper Egypt and had gone to Libya seeking work to support their families. They died with dignity as they called out to their God, while the cowardly murderers masked their faces.

Rather than hectoring Christians about their ancestors' misdeeds, Obama should honor these men and the countless Middle Eastern Christians persecuted before them.

Monday, there was more horrifying news: ISIL terrorists released a video purporting to show more religiously motivated killing. According to CNN, before beheading and shooting two groups of Christians in Libya, a speaker said, "The Islamic State has offered the Christian community (the opportunity to convert to Islam or pay a tax for being Christian) many times and set a deadline for this, but the Christians never cooperated."

So they kill them.

Indeed, let's talk more about the Crusades.

The only thing I can suggest is the quotation marks indicate someone else's comment. Jesus is far more than a prophet and is the Person I trust for my eternal salvation.
