Moderators lazarus Posted December 11, 2005 Moderators Posted December 11, 2005 ISRAEL’S armed forces have been ordered by Ariel Sharon, the prime minister, to be ready by the end of March for possible strikes on secret uranium enrichment sites in Iran, military sources have revealed. The order came after Israeli intelligence warned the government that Iran was operating enrichment facilities, believed to be small and concealed in civilian locations. Iran’s stand-off with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) over nuclear inspections and aggressive rhetoric from Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the Iranian president, who said last week that Israel should be moved to Europe, are causing mounting concern. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,2089-1920074,00.html Any ideas of the possible outcome of an Israeli strike on Iran? Dr. Shane Posted December 11, 2005 Posted December 11, 2005 Time will tell. With the US in Iraq, which is between the two nations, it will be interesting to see how Iran would react. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Find me at www.PostumCafe.com Author of Peculiar Christianity
Ron Lambert Posted December 12, 2005 Posted December 12, 2005 To reach Iran, Israeli jets would have to overfly Syria and Iraq or Turkey. The extreme range would probably require in-air refueling along the way, going and coming. While Syria could not stop them, the Israelis would have to have the consent of the U.S. to overfly Iraq or its NATO ally, Turkey. In which case, the U.S. might as well do the job itself. It would be much easier for the U.S. to do the job, since the American military is based right next door in Iraq, as well as in Aircraft carriers in the northern Indian Ocean. Quote
