It's a beautiful testimony.  Christian education is truly a mission!    Wish we didn't spend so much money on big evangelistic meetings held in sports stadiums and more on grass-roots education!    Our children need it!

Thanks Jeannieb43, she is a Sikh.. but will always support the Adventist Church....  there was some discussion if we should even print that, but pressed forward anyway.

Very moving example of work of the Holy Spirit, bringing to mind a prophetic Truth and coming joy as members of the family of God.

17The Lord your God is in your midst,
a mighty one who will save;
he will rejoice over you with gladness;
he will quiet you by his love;
he will exult over you with loud singing. ...Zephaniah 3

16"I have other sheep, which are not of this fold; I must bring them also, and they will hear My voice; and they will become one flock with one shepherd....John 10

Why should there have been any discussion as to whether or not the lady is a Sikh should be published?  It's beyond me that anyone should have a problem with that.  So what if she is a Sikh?  To quote Hillary Clinton, what difference does it make?

I think it's a great testimonial. In my view it's great when Adventist schools welcome students of other faiths and give them a great education. They enrich us, we enrich them, we all learn together.

The following is a side tangent, and really only about my own issues - feel free to ignore!

(I do think sometimes there's a tendency in Adventist schools to unfairly bash public schools. I know she was just contrasting her own public school experience with what she found at the Adventist school, but the implication left is sometimes that all public school teachers teach only from the textbook and don't care about students. This isn't the case. Adventist schools are great - I studied in them from Grade 1 to the end of my first degree and enjoyed them and learned a lot - but to support one we don't need to knock the other. There are some excellent public schools and teachers too.)

That disparaging comments of people of other faith, I was told as I was becoming an Adventist was discouraging..  my biggest fear was that I would become like them. Yet I felt like I had no other places I could go.  "It was the best of times, it was the worst of times", I understood that very well.

Appreciate your testimony of Adventist Education. I have never been to an Adventist School.

Be that as it may, are there any public schools that do not teach evolution as a fact and denigrate or deny mention or possibility of a created earth in six literal days?

Heaps. All the ones I know of acknowledge that there are a wide range of creation stories from cultures around the world. The Sikhs have quite an interesting one, I believe, as do the Maori and the First Peoples in Australia.

Does it matter? If you have a strong Faith in what you believe, evolution will not sway you. It never bother me to listen at all, I knew what I believed, period!!

Evidently you have no children or grandchildren to be concerned about re: whether they will remain safe in the fold when apostate protestantism or Babylon are a prevailing influence.

Yes I do, and I went through Public School and still believe in Creation. Again is your Faith so weak?? Besides it was our Schools, AUC and Andrews that my brother started believing in evolution, so how do you explain that?????????? They didn't teach that subject, but yet that's what happen!!!!! So please don't presume to know if I have children or grandchildren!! Besides if you've been reading my posts for the past number of years you would've known that!

Pretty sad actually if the only, or even primary, distinction of concern between public vs. Christian run schools is evolution vs. creation.  It would seem that the point of the article in question was missed.

"Sinless perfection is such a shallow goal."

"I love God only as much as the person I love the least."

*Forgiveness is always good news. And that is the gospel truth.

(And finally, the ideas expressed above are solely my person views and not that of any organization with which I am associated.)

How the earth was created is not a pass/fail exam on judgement day.  AND yes, I am a firm believer that God created the Heavens and the Earth.
