Maybe it means that if you don't treat people around you like you should, then there will be so much static of stress in your life that you won't hear God's answers.

These comments remind me of: Matthew 5:23-24 So if you are offering your gift at the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar and go; first be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.

Christian comedian Jeff Allen has a DVD out called "Happy Wife, Happy Life". He's obviously learned the lesson... LOL
