Did Jesus play?

After Jesus started His ministry and had His disciples with Him, did He ever do anything that was recreational? Stuff He did just for fun? Or do you think Jesus found his ministry was *enough* for His needs? (I can't find anything in the Bible about this. confused.gif )

If we all sang the same note in the choir, there'd never be any harmony.

Funny, isn't it, how we accept Grace for ourselves and demand justice for others?

I think Jesus had a sense of humor. He obviously enjoyed children. The Bible doesn't actually mention much about playing....just because it was probably not considered something you wrote about in those days. But I think he was a fun person to be around or he wouldn't have been invited to weddings. (And that was before he was on anyone's "whose who" list. <img src="/ubbtreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> )

I wish it'd been written about.... It's kinda hard to see Jesus as an example to follow when you don't know what all He did and thought.

The pseudepigraphial writing The Gospel of Thomas [i mignt be wrong on the title.] tells a story of Jesus playing with other boys as a child. They were all taking clay and making little birds. According to the story, the other boys laughed at Jesus for the figures that he had made. So, Jesus in a fit of anger turned his figures into living birds, who immediately flew away. That stopped the laughter.

The pseudepigraphical writings also contain a story of Jesus becoming so angry with some other lad while playing that He struck the other dead with His divine power. ooo.gif

I could actually see that happening ... fledgling godling learns own strength the hard way! grin.gif

Jesus had a sense of humor...It is just that 2000 years have clouded his meaning....

How many times have you seen planks growing out of heads? or even eyes.... Just think of the person who had one growing out of his head,...why, every time he turned around, he would smack someone with the plank... That is why he said, [:"green"] 3"Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4How can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5 [/]

And who would like be to be likened to white washed tombs-

[:"green"] 27"(A)Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs which on the outside appear beautiful, but inside they are full of dead men's bones and all uncleanness. [/] shudder....

There are many references that we have the humor and made it into saged advice over time

And when was the last time you counted your hair?

[:"green"]"But (A)the very hairs of your head are all numbered. [/]

Seems pretty pointless to me, unless you are bald...or going that way...

Democracy is a device that ensures we shall be governed no better than we deserve.
