Ben Carson at the Bus Stop, and the Adventist Church

I was told a few days ago, not by an Adventist, that the Adventist Church seems to want to throw Ben Carson under the bus and pretend he never ran.  I thought this was an overstatement and I responded that way..

I said the Adventist Church did not denounce him, they just stressed not to loose the charitable status by turning in to a Political Organization, is that correct?

Question is this, do you have to support everything he is saying to support him?

I see no reason for the church to denounce Dr. Carson. He has long been upheld as a hero among us, a role model for young people. The movie about him, Healing Hands, has been shown at many churches. But the church has always maintained political neutrality. This won us some favor in Russia a few years ago, by being the church deemed least political and so was awarded a printing contract for all religious materials in Russia. I still am interested to see if Dr. Carson will be invited to speak at the General Conference session. This may not happen, if the idea of maintaining political neutrality remains a high priority.

I like many do not agree with all Dr Carson says, but, like you, I still support him.

One can support him in many ways and not support him in his run for President of the U.S.

Yes, I vote for people who have positions that I do not agree with. "But, I decide that they are the best candidate and I vote for them.

As an outsider looking in,  I cannot feel it is a wise choice which he has made to run....but that is just my opinion.  Realistically how great a chance does

he have to become one of the final candidates ?

I've not seen any official statement from the church that remotely sounded like they were throwing Ben Carson under a bus.  What I find rather odd is that the church even made a statement...  

The more public statements made by church officials, the more likely the media will latch on to some inconsequential phrase or statement, and turn it into a ridiculing circus of the church.

By all means, remind pastors not to ballyhoo their own political candidates  (they shouldn't even need to be reminded..)

I don't have a problem with the statement as I understand the importance of the Church or its representatives acting as an official spokesman of the Church.

What are the things Dr. Ben Carson teaches that anyone could find fault with? Dr. Carson is a fiscal and social conservative, who does not fall for the propaganda of the left, but looks at history to see what really does work (liberty based on individualism and free enterprise), and what has been proven over and over again not to work (socialism in any form). He also takes a completely Biblical stand on opposing union of homosexuals being called "Marriage" in the Biblical sense, and murder of unborn babies by the millions.
