If I have to type something like this,

My good grammar and most excellent spelling and suburb punctuation will suffer. :P

Ok .. they start talking about billions of animals dying around the world (13:24) and  the signs of the end with reports of red seas (plague) in different parts of the world (19:20)

..(at 25:20) the Pope talk starts with a mystical experience both old pope and new pope is reported. now we have a chasmatic Pope winning over many etc.

Climate change and sunday legislation is mentioned

a moral crisis of the planet climate change the Pope will address {one hour and 5 minutes in)

Ben Carson comes up (one hour and 7 minutes). Talking of His prez run thrusts SDA beliefs in the spotlight for all to investigate what we believe like no other event before.

Giving the 3 Angels message will now be our job in this tousher in Jesus Coming again.

i dont wordsmith this well enough to give the total impact

I thought it was interesting enough to have others weigh in.

yes the usual stuff about immorality and gays and genders comes up as always

... funny how Danny Shelton never brings up the rampant churched approved immorality of divorce and remarriage in the last days as a sign.

Marriage is Sacred ...i heard it said among many divorced people.

:P

tell us about it..

Ok.   This should be a little bit embarrassing, shouldn't it?

1) Calling pope the most influential person in the world is obscene, especially when you filter it through ... twitter following?    Katy Perry has twice the following of Pope on twitter, just to put it in a mild twitter perspective.   Pope is not even in top 100 on twitter, and we are talking about people Justin Bieber.   Likewise, influence of twitter doesn't go beyond trivia.  There's only so much influence one can exert in 144 characters.

And the fact that Oprah is even anywhere close to Pope in terms of influence she exerts around the world ... should be laughable.   We are talking about an entrepreneur who generated such influence in her lifetime vs the traditional office which simply hands over power of influence.   If Adventist echatology was anywhere near reality... it wouldn't even be a competition.

Even in the religious scope... Dalai Lama has more social media traction and influence than Pope... and even he is #100 out the 100, right below Claudia Liette, who is a Brazilian singer :).

Someone really should infuse some hard doze of reality in this conversation.

ESPN and NBA have more cultural relevance than probably all of the religion in US combined, and Pope is nowhere near even in scope.

2)  There tends to be exploitative approach to news in Adventist world that has an almost conspiracy-like qualities of "connecting the dots" that slant reality and present skewed perspective on these events.   The world is collectively moving away from religion to find secular solutions.   It's not going to be any different any time soon.

The senator who suggested mandatory Sunday attendance in church of people's choice was collectively laughed out and ridiculed to no end, to the point that she backed out of her own statements, which were a bit flippant to begin with.   The pressure is to ignore such rhetoric as obscene, and not to embrace it as relevant.

3)  Jamming the animal die-off events as some sort of contextual "end of days sign" is just taking this exploitative attitude even further.   While these events seem very large in the scope of their local occurrence, these are nothing new in the scope of historic observation of any given ecosystem.   Some ecosystems are very delicate, so there's no surprise that certain imbalance results in massive die-offs.

What sickens me about this is the exploitative nature to which such events are hijacked by "prophecy watchers" and how they will find a scripture that supposed to warn us about this exact event as some sort of warning.   Have these guys have any shame :)?

4)  Live Earth event is about as efficient at generating awareness and real action as KONY movie achieved anything for issue of African Warlords and political situation in Africa.   If pope was so influential... you wouldn't need pop-stars promoting these kinds of events.

In the Global context, pope is about as influential as British Monarchy today.   Sure, the world pays attention when they are having a baby, but it has nothing to do with "pope's influence" and everything to do with the need to fill 24hr news cycle with content.

Catholic Church has been very desperate to remain relevant, mainly because it's facing virtual extinction when it comes to the age of the church in general.   There are ongoing concerns about relevancy of the church in general, and whether it will be here in two generations if the trends progress:

http://ncronline.org/blogs/small-c-catholic/will-catholic-church-still-be-standing-few-generations

In short, these guys get together and pick and choose the bits of news that support their premise.   That's why hardly anyone shows up at Adventist Prophesy seminars... because it tends to be ridiculous to no end when it comes to the actual reality.    This year there's a switch to "The One" series, because someone finally noticed the issue of the younger generation exiting the doors of the church and there's a real problem with retaining membership.

I have a suggestion....    check your facts and hold people accountable for irrelevant and false sensationalism that drives credibility away from the church.

I am glad you gave it a good listen, fccool!

I used to be in the crowd where everything that happened pointed to Christs return.

I remember  when Pope John Paul dropped dead in 1978 after 33 days in the high office.. Christ was coming!

JFK elected! ..Christ is coming!

the Hippies! Christ is coming!

The gays came out (finally) and started a fabulous parade! Christ is coming!

Any world war!

Women bobbing their hair!

The sermons of the 1920's echoed Morality is taken to heck in a hand basket for that alone.

And I won't even mention all the time settings of various independent ministries prophesies based on the Book of Esther or Ezekiel among many others!

You get excited and excited and excited over and over again. Then disappointed over and over again.

It becomes a 'boy cries wolf' after decades.

I wanted to hear what others have to say ..both pro an con!

Thank you again! fccool

 God bless you!

Hope to find your posts more!

There are two extremes that we can go to. One is not looking at these at all, the other is looking for prophecies in everything.

The book by George McCredy Price "The Time of the End" was one of our more thoughtful and balanced books and surprisingly what it said is what we are seeing.

Revelation keeps mentioning the scorching sun in the last days.

But the beast is ANY organized group that replaces Christ in our lives and attempts to dictate how we should live. (In a lot of ways the beast and dragon are opposite extremes appealing to different kinds of people; One is "Live as you please for heaven is your home" "There is no right or wrong except for what's right or wrong for you" The other is telling you what to do, instead of a willingness for us as individuals to study and see that there is an ultimate truth that we are going towards, but that the Spirit leads us in applications to us personally and at our point in growth. There is a big difference between sharing and forcing.) During the dark ages and rise of Protestantism the Papacy played a huge role in the 5th head so of course the Holy Spirit would point there.

But there is a problem that we have made the whole beast the papacy. Or we want to say that it has nothing to do with the papacy. The typical Adventist thinks we are going to go back into the 5th head of the Holy Roman Empire with the Pope being supreme. The papacy will as it characteristically does, side with the wrong side, but while it will play a role, we are going to move on to the 7th head not return to the 5th head.

First of all, Adventists don't even understand or know their own theology when they begin chasing the Pope for ramping up ecumenicism and paving the road to the Sunday Law.

E.G. White's scenario has been:

1)  There will be a great time of worldwide turbulence both political and financial

2)  Satan will fake the second coming, and will convince the world that he is Christ, and that Sunday is Sabbath

I'm not sure as to what's the point to the drumming up the "animals are dying .... is a sign of the last days", because it's silly.   A very definite sign of last days would be just that... a guy performing miracles claiming to be Jesus, and telling everyone to worship him on Sunday.    That would be a definite sign of the last days. :)   Anything short of that would be highly questionable when it comes to conspiratorial interpretation, and I simply wouldn't donate money to group that entirely depend on cranking out connections and signs that such last days are "soon", as these have been for the past 150 years.

What drives me nuts is that there's a real potential wasted when it comes to the positive direction that the church can still take our society, and that actually does include environmental issues that can be addressed from bottom-up religiously.   Instead, any message that caries some undertones of environmentalism is dubbed liberal and borderline satanist.   It's extremely disturbing.

about all I can say, is that I liked C.A. Murray's necktie...

Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup.

If we all sang the same note in the choir, there'd never be any harmony.

Funny, isn't it, how we accept Grace for ourselves and demand justice for others?

The Second Coming will occur when the gospel the Savior wanted preached had been proclaimed unto all the world (see Matt 24:14).

The gospel popularly being preached teaches that people are written in the book of life after they believe.

The gospel our Lord wanted preached teaches that people are born with their names in the book of life.

Amen!

Knowing what a great God He is

Knowing He is the Most Beautiful Being in all the Universes

Knowing He rejoices over us on bad days as well as good days

Knowing this heart of God

changes our hearts toward HIM

Spills over unto others

Words of the Gospel will have its effects

Actions and thoughts of the Gospel will drive it Home

I am in agreement with much of what you have written. Christianity in the west has become one big conspiracy theory...yet ignores, opposes or does not know the truth on how we are to treat the environment from the pages of the Bible.

May we all join hands in proclaiming the gospel our Savior wanted preached to all the world. And then He will come to receive to Himself all whose names remained written in the book of life, that where He is, there shall we be likewise.

The ironic twist is the guy brings out the 10 commandments and talks commandment keeping, but keeps slandering another Christian organization using imagination, sophistry and sensationalism. If he is looking for a commandment breaker, then he should be looking no further than his own words on tape. He is breaking the commandment not to bear false witness.

Samie! amen!

that is all we hope!

though there are many hands who won't join cause of disagreements :/

one of the signs of Christ coming is when John 17 and 1John 3: 14-20 comes true

we have a long long ways to go

someone aught to tell Steve that will be surely a fantastical sign of the end ...*

more so than dead animals

*have you seen what people actually say to each other here  in front of the Whole Globe...?

So does that mean you don't like him now??

So does that mean you don't like him now??

Is there any reason to not like him now?

"Always liked him" means I always like him

The past tense refers to his coming on my radar years ago.

Not a present dislike.

Sorry for my bad wording.

Oh yes BTW..me liking or not liking has nothing to do with disagreeing or agreeing with me.

I am not shallow like that.

I go to a church who disagree as the day is long and still like them.
