Hurricane Ike Dealt Hard Blow to Turks and Caicos Islands

Hurricane Ike, a dangerous category 4 hurricane packing winds of 135 mph, slammed into the Turks and Caicos Islands particularly the islands of Grand Turk, South Caicos and Salt Cay on Saturday, September 6, 2008, leaving a wave of destruction behind. To date, there has been no reported death due to the onslaught, however, preliminary reports suggest that approximately 80% of the properties in these areas were severely damaged, with many of them roofless.
