Stan Posted May 24, 2015 Posted May 24, 2015 (edited) BREAKING NEWS FROM http://barelyadventist.com my favourite satire site. Pope invites Doug Batchelor for peace talks Posted on May 24, 2015 by sevvy Doug Batchelor commenting on papal developments… VATICAN — In an intriguing move by the Vatican, Pope Francis has invited veteran Adventist evangelist and staunch papal critic Doug Batchelor to Rome for peace talks. The invitation comes after a seemingly never-ending stream of criticism of the Vatican from Doug Batchelor. Pope Francis, who allegedly has Adventist family, said that he was inviting Batchelor for a conversation focused on common ground instead of differences “whether real, stemming from 16th century Catholic abuses or rooted in complete misunderstanding of modern Catholic positions.” Although there has been no official response from Batchelor yet, Adventist inter-faith scholar Mattias Telmo says that he doubts Batchelor will take the pope up on his offer to talk. “Doug Batchelor appeals to a base of highly combative television viewers that take end-time prophecy as an excuse to lambast almost every move that the pope makes. Even we Adventists feel like he is going a little far.” Telmo appealed to Adventists to develop a more generous view of Christians and others outside the Adventist faith community. “Believe it or not, there is a way to be a responsible Adventist with a watchful eye for prophetic events without demonizing every move of someone who honestly seems to be doing his level best as a religious leader,” said Telmo of the current pope. “We are often guilty of comparing the best of our ideals as a church to the worst abuses of another faith. That’s like a Catholic equating Mother Teresa with his church and claiming David Koresh was a typical Adventist. That is just not fair.” Edited May 25, 2015 by Stan Quote If you receive benefit to being here please help out with expenses. https://www.paypal.me/clubadventist Administrator of a few websites like https://adventistdating.com

D_Bishop Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 I've seen some highly questionable information come from barely adventist, info that I don't think is true. Like this. Quote

Johann Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 Did Paul use satire? 10-12 Don’t, by the way, read too much into the differences here between men and women. Neither man nor woman can go it alone or claim priority. Man was created first, as a beautiful shining reflection of God—that is true. But the head on a woman’s body clearly outshines in beauty the head of her “head,” her husband. The first woman came from man, true—but ever since then, every man comes from a woman! And since virtually everything comes from God anyway, let’s quit going through these “who’s first” routines. 13-16 Don’t you agree there is something naturally powerful in the symbolism—a woman, her beautiful hair reminiscent of angels, praying in adoration; a man, his head bared in reverence, praying in submission? I hope you’re not going to be argumentative about this. All God’s churches see it this way; I don’t want you standing out as an exception. 1 Corinthians 11 The Message (MSG) Stan 1 Quote
