Every year natural disasters can be catastrophic to the lives of millions of people around the world. A natural disaster is the consequence of a natural hazard (e.g. hurricanes, earthquakes, volcanic eruption, etc.) which moves from potential into an active phase, and as a result affects human activities. Human vulnerability, exacerbated by the lack of planning or appropriate emergency management leads to financial, structural, and human losses.
