Hollywood produces a lot of sex-based programing. Will & Grace, Friends, Two $ A Half Men, Scrubs, etc., etc, etc. Now I understand that Hollywood is selling a product and they are making the programs that their consumers want to see. Hollywood is not forcing anyone to watch the filth they produce. They simply make the filth the consumers want to see. No different than car companies making the cars the people want to buy.

It does remind me however of the pimping industry. Pimps do not require anyone to sleep with their prostitutes. They simply provide a service their consumers want.

Christians need to do two things if they desire a change in Hollywood's behavior. The first is to avoid watching movies and television programs that are offensive. The second is to watch those programs and movies that are responsible productions. That would mean attending the movie in the theater and buying it on DVD.

TV programs can now be purchased on DVD. Hollywood pays attention to the types of TV series that consumers are purchasing. If programs like the Waltons and Little House On The Praire sell well on DVD, Hollywood will be more likely to make new series that are simular.

I agree with your point: what sells is what will be made, so the ultimate argument is what we open our packetbooks for (and much better than legislation, although of course some of that is needed for the more extreme stuff).

From the title I was thinking also about Hollywood's fascination with actual pimps - how many movies and videos feature these parasitic scum lately?

I keep hoping all this sex-based programming is just a phase that we are going through. As we look back on the industry there was a time when cowboy westerns dominated the movies and television, military shows dominated the movies and television, dectective/mysteriers dominated for a while and of course car-chasing action shows dominated for a time. So I am hoping, perhaps in vain, that the entertaiment consumer will get burned out on this overdose of sex and another type of programming will become dominate.
